Hah, I really wanted to call you out on that, what with there being so many expansions and the free-to-plays in there, but even then it only works out at a little slower than a full retail game a year average XD Doesn't feel like it to me cos I only seem to buy ever other one, lol.

So 6 releases in 9 years? CoD has 7 releases in 7 years. (Not including the ones being released this november.)
Well, TBH it's Treyarch has 3 whilst IW has 4.
Isn't DICE technically two studios as well? I thought that DICE was based in Stockholm and had a division in Southern Ontario in Canada.

Also, DICE worked on the Frostbite engine during that time frame, while IW and Treyarch both used id Tech 3. So in terms of total game development time, I'm not so sure that DICE spent a lot more than the CoD creators.

In reality your list should be:

[blockquote]2002 Battlefield 1942
2004 Battlefield Vietnam
2005 Battlefield 2
2006 Battlefield 2142
2008 Battlefield: Bad Company
2009 Battlefield Heroes
2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2
2010 Battlefield Online
2011 Battlefield Play4Free
2011 Battlefield 3[/blockquote]

...and yes That is still basically yearly releases, but not as excessive as your first list.
Three of those are also free-to-play online-only games, which I wouldn't consider full games.
And rightly so, as neither were developed by DICE, but by an in-house developer at EA on the battlefield 2 engine

Yeah that's all well and good, but look at BF:BC 2 and BF 3, less than 2 years apart. Now look at the CoD franchise, which he's clearly taking a swipe at: IF did one every two years, Treyarch do one every 2 years. So in general the CoD franchise actually has a longer dev cycle than DICE with the Battlefield games.

Even then, towards the end 3 of those games (the F2P games) are not even really made by DICE. But by the sister company that makes free to play games on the Refractor 2 (Battlefield 1942-2142) engine.

Also, the every year period for battlefield was only during EA's time at the head of the evil sector (though thanks to everyones reaction over the recent origin TOS they may reclaim that, A load of hooey in my opinion though.)

I'm going to naively say that DICE say this because they have been there. They have been to hell and back and now see that perhaps that wasn't the way to go. But I do think its strange that they say that when BC2 was just released last year, but it might have something to do iwth them trying to get the engine tested more. Well thats my fanboyish opinion anyway.

I was about to post how it's interesting to see this coming from someone who works for EA, the company that pushes out a barely changed, full price madden AND FIFA game out each, but then I noticed this list. It sums up my thoughts of hypocracy much better.

I think you've completely missed the point, first, let me drop this here:
If people like the old one, then keep fixing that one, update it and make it better.
Now, with that being said, lets break this down a little..

[blockquote]
2002 Battlefield 1942
2003 Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome
2003 Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII
2009 Battlefield 1943
[/blockquote]
One game, with 2 expansions that *BUILD ON THE ORIGINAL GAME*, Battlefield 1943 goes in there because it's essencially the same game except for consoles.

[blockquote]
2005 Battlefield 2
2005 Battlefield 2: Special Forces
2005 Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
2006 Battlefield 2: Euro Forces
2006 Battlefield 2: Armored Fury
2010 Battlefield Online
2011 Battlefield Play4Free
[/blockquote]
These are all Battlefield 2 in some way, as well as the booster packs which work as expansions..

[blockquote]
2006 Battlefield 2142
2007 Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike
[/blockquote]
yep...

[blockquote]
2008 Battlefield: Bad Company
[/blockquote]
The first "console" release of a battlefield game..

[blockquote]
2009 Battlefield Heroes
[/blockquote]
The first attempt at a 'Play 4 Free' battlefield game..

[blockquote]
2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2
2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam
[/blockquote]
Again..

[blockquote]2011 Battlefield 3[/blockquote]
We're still to see where this one goes..

So they have every right to be 'Sure about that' because it's something they've demonstrated time, and time and time again. It's not about the number of releases in a certain period of time, it's about *WHAT IS BEING RELEASED*.

Really, DICE? Are you so sure about that?
You need to learn the difference between sequels, expansion packs, browser games and other small spin off games.

OT: Right on the money, it's one of the reasons BF rocks as a franchise. It's also one of the reasons I hate DLCs in general, expansion packs always delivered so much more.

If this were an EA employee instead of someone from DICE I'd start screaming FIFA at them. Whatever, the times of supporting released games with methods OTHER than DLC are vastly coming to an end.

Is anyone else starting to get just ever so slightly annoyed with DICE and EA? It seems like every time I come to this website, there's a story about how they insulted, either directly or indirectly, Call of Duty. I get it. You guys think you're going to be better. I must admit, at the moment your constant baiting and taunting are not impressing me. They're starting to look like the school kid who constantly tries to pick fights with people just to prove how tough they are.

Hmmmmm let's compare full releases by one developer!

DICE

[blockquote]2002 Battlefield 1942
2004 Battlefield Vietnam
2005 Battlefield 2
2006 Battlefield 2142
2008 Battlefield: Bad Company
2009 Battlefield 1943
2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2
2011 Battlefield 3[/blockquote]

Infinity Ward

[blockquote]2003 Call of Duty
2005 Call of Duty 2
2007 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
2011 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3[/blockquote]

Eight in ten years versus... five in ten years!

Oh, shut the fuck up EA. You hypocritical bag of dicks. You had a BF convert before your moronic shitslinging started.

2009 Battlefield 1943

2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam
2010 Battlefield Online
2011 Battlefield Play4Free
2011 Battlefield 3[/blockquote]

Really, DICE? Are you so sure about that?
Yeah, they are. Most of those are either expansion packs (not full sequels), DLC, or other expansion DLC. A more updated list would be:
2003 Battlefield 1942
2004 Battlefield Vietnam
2005 Battlefield 2
2006 Battlefield 2142
2008 Battlefield: Bad Company
2009 Battlefield Heroes
2009 Battlefield 1943
2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2
2011 Battlefield Play4Free
2011 Battlefield 3

Ok, now we notice that 2 are play for free games (Play4free and Heroes), 1 was a downloadable title (1943), 2 were in a development cycle of at least 3 years (2 and 3). The last 2 (2142 and Vietnam) were criticized for being close to the original before it HOWEVER they were counted as great games in their own right (not to mention they changed time periods).

I think DICE has solid ground to stand on.

You do notice that DICE is a large development studio with multiple sections. Alternatively, everybody in Infinity Ward has been working on each title. If we do this by development then you find that only Battlefield 1942, 2, and 3 were made by the same team. The team that made Vietnam doesn't exist anymore, and the team for 2142 doesn't either (some of them probably ended up making Mirror's Edge). Soooo... there goes the argument.

Infinity Ward has had multi-year development cycles for all of their CoD games.

So, no, no they don't.

Multiyear as in 2? All they're games have been released in 2 year increments. Battlefield 2 was in development for 4, Battlefield 3 was in development for 6 years, 1942 was in development for a range of 3 to 6. In fact, im not completely sure Vietnam was created by DICE at all but instead a subsidiary.

Wait, what is Battlefield 1943 doing in there? Thats not a full game, instead a downloadable title. That would be like if the Nazi Zombies game made by Treyarch on the iPhone was counted as one of their full games. Knock that off the list and notice that there has been a longer development cycle for Battlefield (a few years in fact) then you got yourself an arguement.
