As opposed to the demand that they be treated like the ultra-first-class of the world, yes.
it's awesome when editors themselves become TROLLS

Hype is a bad thing but this ones deserves it.

Though I am bit concerned that it all is a scam. Like a week before launch they announce "No dedicated! Fooled ya!!"

What is that suppose to mean?

I'd rather not derail the thread, but I've outlined my thoughts on the matter already [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/view-from-the-road/6759-A-View-From-the-Road-Unreasonably-Dedicated].

My thought exactly.

OT: Well I guess this is good news for PC fans who can't live without modding, or dedicated servers.

I'd agree with you if we were getting the same treatment as consoles. PC gamers really ARE treated like second-class, and Modern Warfare 2 is just the match that lit the fire. There are very, very few developers out there that treat the PC equally to the consoles. I'm not looking for better treatment than console owners, but I'd certainly like to be treated as important as them.

At any rate, good for DICE for taking advantage of this whole situation and ensuring that PC gamers will receive as good an experience as our console brethren.

This ^

Other than that,i was a bit dissapointed when the first one didn't come out for the PC.I'm pretty sure i'll buy it (though i'd like to try a demo first just in case).

Can't argue there, theres a bloke at my uni who is the biggest PC elitist he actually tried to hit me for owning an xbox 360, claimed i was "some jock prick" and should leave the computing society because I probably don't know how to program anyway!

Luckily for me I am a physically fit nerd who is capable of dodging an attack from a greasy overweight fool

OT I am sure DICE are going to do what they can to capitalise on the situation, it only makes sense, I'll be getting the 360 version of course, my gaming PC doesn't get much use at all any more, with any luck their "special treatment" of PC gamers won't translate to simply not catering and specialising for the console audience...

Okay, Now i OWN THE ENTIRE BF FRANCHISE, exception being 2142's DLC, but that's no big. (even have BF2:MC on 360, expacks for 1942 and 2,)
I understand that DICE didn't release B-company on the PC, as it would suffer a bit of crysis effect, except that it NEEDS the physics power from modern cards (8800 and greater)to be playable, and they didn't really have time to make a decent PC version, unlike this time around (or so it seems)
I know i'll get it for 360, come springtime, maybe PC aswell, depending on how december's demo runs on my machine, and what upgrades i may need for it.
but ATM i am very happy with playing BF2, aswell as B-company1 especially the wonderful mods like PR for 2.

Since when has equality been "second class"? I know equal rights has shown the world that minorities have to be treated better, but PC gamers are not an oppressed minority, they just happen to have a more customisable console.

PC's and consoles are different platforms. Period. There is no good reason to try and combine the two groups because then they loose all their individuality. In this case, that's exactly what Infinity Ward is doing and the PC has lost 99% of what makes it an unique experience. Fair treatment is all well and good, but it can't happen if the game is exactly the same on cross-platform. True equality would mean that the game is tailored SPECIFICALLY to the strengths of each system it's released on instead of forcing all to conform to the strengths of ONE.

I think the real question is will it be any good. I never played the last one, or any Battlefield for that matter, but I heard that it was garbage compared to the last on (so says my friend the Battlefield buff). If they keep with their word then we will see it in the beta / demo.

Hmm, interesting. I didn't buy the first Bad Company, but I did hear that it was good, and I did enjoy most of the other Battlefield games so I may just end up buying this. It's looking like it's going to be a good game anyway, and flipping off Activision and Infinity Ward by buying this instead of Modern Warfare 2 is just a bonus.

Yeah DICE! Way to Go! Releasing a sequel on a platform that didn't have the first one and making a really big fucking deal about it!

Can I ask the question of why PC gamers (at least the ones on The Escapist) are getting so excited about this?

If I may put the ModWar2 situation into an analogy.

Call Of Duty was a swinger, hookin' up with PC & consoles.
When the consoles started puttin' out more, COD started givin all of it's attention to them.
COD wanted to stay friends with PC, but PC was jealous that COD wasn't giving it all the attention it taught it deserved.
So DICE & EA, whores in there own right, decided to hook up with PC on the rebound.
PC took it, but wasn't yet over COD, bashing it at every opportunity it got.
But COD didn't give no shits.

Also, somewhere in there, STD's was spread in the form of bannings.

Because the Battlefield games have always been great? Because seeing videos of Bad Company 2 brings back memories of Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1942, with destructible buildings as an extra bonus?
