If EA is saying that the single player is important, why didn't they do a better job of it.

A game needs to be able to stand up on it's campaign alone, with the multiplayer as a bonus, no matter how good it is.

I think there's definitely a place for single player in Battlefield, but if they're not going to do it well they might as well not do it. I have heard only good things about the coop in BF3, they could have just expanded that. And from what I've heard, not having proper air combat in the SP for a BF game is just stupid. It's easy to do and it's necessary.

Also, Carter, loved the rat comments.

It'll all be exciting when they release a ROUS (Rats of Unusual Size) DLC Pack, that involves fighting six-fingered men and killing said ROUS in a wave style mode- or even playing as a ROUS attacking Americans!

Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, 2142, BF2, and 1943 (with the exception of the Bad Company games) would like to have a chat, EA.

Well you can't blame 'em for trying. They have the right idea after all: Single player is just as important as the multiplayer for Battlefield games. Pretty much what I think too.

I wouldn't say the single player campaign was BAD. It's just that they tried to do it the exact same way as the Modern Warfare games' single player campaigns, and ended up suffering in the comparison.

It would be nice if they just went portal style and made an elaborate tutorial disguised as a campaign. That would make a whole lot more sense for this series I would think.

I don't play many shooters whatsoever, but if you're not going to go all out, I wouldn't even bother with a single player. Just hearing the words "quicktime events" tells me that this was a bit phoned in.

And of course, trying to copy Call of Duty is just ridiculous. You can just imagine how those marketing meetings go; a giant boardroom of people who think in numbers and check-marks instead of quality or originality. I would prefer that Battlefield just focuses on what it does best. Hammering out the best quality in your own unique direction is the only way they'll get those numbers they so desire.

any game should be able to stand on singleplayer alone.
that being said, i play COD and BF, singleplayer only. i never play online shooters.
