The results from the second round are in, and I have to admit, the SVD had it's ass handed to it.

The SVD took major damage to all components but the rear armour and was entirely destroyed in the end. The Fra'als were almost entirely unharmed, mostly due to the clever use of aegis deflectors.

Also, a new rule: Aegis deflectors can be used, but not on or behind sections that are deflected.

Ahh, I think that was my fault: I didn;t realise that putting a deflector on an area that was shielded prevented it from being damaged. I'll change that and send it to you for a rematch if you want.

Onto a more selfish topic ;)
Having signed up to the forums (I would recommend it for the advice, and to take inspiration from other ships there), I've made some adjustments and new ships, and decided on a design around which to build a fleet.

The C'bal Interceptor:
A light, fast ship with a single high powered beam laser on the front. A very useful precision weapon for attacking already engaged ships; it can do large amounts of damage, but is unable to withstand any punishment


The Fra'al Cruiser
The workhorse of the fleet: relatively fast and agile, but lightly armoured. Mounting a series of high powered beam lasers on the prow, as well as a number of blasters and point defence guns, it;s full frontal firepower is impressive to say the least. However, despite additional armour on the prow, it, and the 'neck' section are prone to collapsing under heavy fire, leaving the ship's armament halved.


The Tr'lan Battlecruiser
The heaviest ship currently in use, it retains the same properties of speed and agility as its stablemates, but augments them with heavier armour, especially on the prow.

Y'know, you could turn tat off in the options menu, just keep on clicking on the label above the color swatch and slider bars until you get to 'ship' glow. Set that to black.

Edit: Oops. Sorry 'bout that carrots.

And th, I can barely wait!

It would be considered common courtesy to put the aegis generators outside the aegis field itself, to make the ship more balanced. Also try adding some ablatives.

edit: For some reason some of the colours are still looking odd; some areas painted blue are appearing purple on both ships...

And I've scrapped that last version of the Fra'al: The latest one is above, without any Aegis generators, and with a bit of ablative armour.

Try turning off, gradients. Sometimes they mess with the colors, and take up lots of processing power and RAM. And re-check your colors in the options menu.


This ain't no Battlestar Galactica. This is also one of the first ships that I've made that I have the dignity to display.

Very nice program, though the forum community's gotten pretty elitist over the past few years. Still worth having a look at the forum though in order to see just how far these designs can be pushed :)

Just turned off gradients and it worked. Thanks :)

There are a few problems (colors and alignment, mostly) but here's my rendition of the Pegasus-class Carrier from the Mobile Suit Gundam series (e.g. White Base).

Note that I used Gluon bolters for the missile launchers since those behave far more like the missile launchers in the show (as in one full salvo). Also I just layered the twin Mega Particle cannons on top of each other (2 beamers on each side)

I'm surprised to hear this game is freeware now. When I played it, I would have sworn it was shareware.

Those are some awesome ships. Makes me want to go boot up BYOND and make a space opera game.

It looks okay, but it could be improved upon. Try making it more complex and a reference pic is usually a good idea. You can also mod your weapons, select a weapon and click on the 'edit' button on the toolbar.

PS: New version is out.

Use the new multi-missile pod thingy, and set it to have a large burst and high deviation - instant gundam-style missile spam! works with the standard missile as well, but those missiles are larger...
