Bayonetta Cinematics?

So I recently finished Bayonetta and I must say I enjoyed the game a great deal, the action was wonderfully designed, the story while a bit "errr wtf?" at times was actually pretty decent, but one thing I've got to ask, did anyone else get really sick of the cinematics at times?

Don't get me wrong, they were wonderfully animated, well voiced, and the dialogue isn't that bad, but I'm playing a game to play the game not watch a movie, in other games you might get cut-scene movies but at least you'll get to make a dialogue choice in there or something, not with Bayonetta it's a good 3/5mins of solid movie where you don't get to do anything, well you can skip it but there goes a good chunk of the plot.

It seems to me the game could of been a lot better if they had of dropped some of the superfluous cinematics and allowed us to play the action sequences ourselves.

You thought the dialog and voices were good and you thought these cinematics were long?

Go play MGS or really any JRPG.

They have hour long cutscenes.

Well, I usually skip the cutscenes in games, 'cos I don't care about the story, although I haven't got Bayonetta, but still...

Bayonetta's cutscenes are superbly short when compared to Metal Gear Solid. God if there was any less gameplay in that i'd swear i was watching a movie

Last JRPG I played was FF8 I think, before that I was into games like Chrono Trigger/etc RPG wise, but once the cut-scenes started to really bog down the game as opposed to improve it, I stopped playing them.

I honestly didn't expect cut-scenes that long in an Action/Adventure game.

I thought the cutscenes in Bayonetta were a riot. I was too busy pissing myself laughing to be bothered how long they were.

This, also, you didn't want to miss any of the story? What story? "Lets attack bird/angelthings because they attack me because I'm a witch with big boobies and something about my family KILL KILL KILL!"

i dont mind long cut scenes. in fact if a game is good enough i'd rather it just be an entire cut scene. its like omg great cut scene and the story is awwsome...damn now i have to kill a couple thousand badies to get to the nx one... rinse, repeat. if a video game is good enough its like a visual book and i would rather watch a movie of the entire game then only get 30mins of badass CGI n great story n hrs of murdering nameless hordes ><. looking forward to getting a ps3 since i hear mgs4 has looong cut scenes:)

You're complaining about 5 minute long cinematics? Somebody hasn't played Metal Gear Solid..... And hell, at least Bayonetta is sexy, so it gives you something nice to look at during those 5 minutes.

I thought the gameplay to cinematic ratio was pretty even, especially taking into consideration the fact that you're essentially playing an interactive anime.

I might be biased in this area, though. I have to admit, I started skipping Bayonetta's cutscenes around Chapter XI. Honestly, I just got tired of not knowing what the hell was going on, and the akwardness with Luka and Cereza.

ugg. if I wanted to watch anime I'd watch anime, when I play a game I want to play a game, I don't get how people like huge chunks of a game that are non-interactive, sure I love to read, I love my TV/Movies/etc, but when I game I want to game.

The cinematics in the demo made my eyes bleed, I dunno how people can watch that for ten hours.

The music hurt my brain too.

Yeah, I agree for the most part. It's fine and dandy for a game to try and create a great story, but it should never take priority over the game itself.

I thought I was the only one who didn't understand the story.

It was completely incomprehensible. The only time when I knew exactly what was going on was at the very beginning and at the very end.

At least it doesn't have characters standing around and having conversations with dialogue consisting of at least 50% this line - and I quote:

Ummmmm, no?

I'm not sure what you want from me, but for me, I like a game to have a good story, but I don't care either way, and unless the story is worth watching, then I won't.

Simple as.
