I really quite liked the cinematics. I did not like however that the arbitrary "Press x to not die" quick time events were ever present, but only when you least expected them. Such as when Fortitudo shoots at the piece of temple you're in, and, with Bayonetta having dodged every similar attack, you are made to press square or die instantly.

So I recently finished Bayonetta and I must say I enjoyed the game a great deal, the action was wonderfully designed, the story while a bit "errr wtf?" at times was actually pretty decent, but one thing I've got to ask, did anyone else get really sick of the cinematics at times?

Don't get me wrong, they were wonderfully animated, well voiced, and the dialogue isn't that bad, but I'm playing a game to play the game not watch a movie, in other games you might get cut-scene movies but at least you'll get to make a dialogue choice in there or something, not with Bayonetta it's a good 3/5mins of solid movie where you don't get to do anything, well you can skip it but there goes a good chunk of the plot.

It seems to me the game could of been a lot better if they had of dropped some of the superfluous cinematics and allowed us to play the action sequences ourselves.
Actually, there aren't that many games that let you do dialog choices during cutscenes.

Should I mention a few examples of games that doesn't let you do that?

Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Ratchet and clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Ratchet and clank Future: A Crack in Time
Assassins Creed
Assassins Creed 2
Gears of War
Gears of war 2
Cakk of duty 4
Call of duty: World at War
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Demon Souls
Infamous
Battlefield: Bad Company
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Devil May Cry 4
Darksiders

I could go on, easily..

I hated the Bayonetta film-reel type cut scenes. They just detracted from the whole experience. Not to mention the damn loading times on PS3. Flow interruption does not work with that game. It loads when you go to pick up an item. Really!?!

I'll be honest, I had very little clue as to what was happening in the story, or even why Bayonetta does what she does. The plot has more holes than the wall of a shooting range and the characters are ridiculous; I especially like how in the manual it says "Unlike most journalists, Luka has a special gadget under his sleeve which is capable of firing a grappling hook to access dangerous sites."

MOST journalists?! How many fucking journalists do you know that use a grappling hook?! The closest one I can think of is Peter Parker, and he's fictional!

It's a bloody good thing that the game doesn't rely on its story because it would really fall flat on its arse. Other than that, it's an incredibly fun game, and you can skip the cut-scenes quickly if you press RT+Back or R2+Select.

As long as you can skip them I don't care how long they are.

Can you skip Bayonetta's cutscenes? I would hope so.
