It looked like trash. Played it. It was trash. Well, the gameplay is solid, better than DMC4s by far. But the Bayonetta herself, the style, the randomness, and the stupidity of it all made me want to grind my face against a wall. But apparently that's just me, so disregard that.

As a note, I loved Devil May Cry and DMC3.

It's odd to see you say this, with a Haruhi avatar. Just sayin', randomness would be a prime word for that anime. Not that I don't love it any less because of it all.

Yeah, but I don't like the kind of randomness that means I have no idea what kind of bizarre attack she'd pull off next. It's a lot easier to watch randomness than play it.

Also I'd disagree that the Haruhi series is completely random. The books even less so.

The demo was... eh. Underwhelming, to say the least. It's very hard to see what's going on at times, and just spamming the same combo over and over seemed to be the most effective tactic, rather than trying to find new interesting combos.

I played the demo. Here were my thoughts:

1. That girl is going to have terrible back pain when she's older.

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed. Her back is arched at an 80 degree angle. That cannot be comfortable. Nevertheless, the demo is freaking awesome and yet completely incomprehensible in it's sheer audacity.

Played the demo. God of war and Devil May Cry 4 are shamelessly ripped off. More of the latter than the former.

It disgusted me, frankly.

Fun fact: Creator of DMC is behind Bayonetta.

Another fun fact: DMC came before God of War.

"Ripped off" is rather exaggerating. There are innovations, albeit slight ones. But really, you know what to expect from a gameplay stance when playing a game directed by Hideki Kamiya.

Still not decided on it, I have yet to download the demo. The gameplay looks decent enough from what I've seen of it so we'll see.

Played most of the way through this.

It's great fun, the combat is stylish looking and challenging. It's made by the people who did Viewtiful Joe, an amazing gamecube game, and if you enjoyed that, you will this.

The other draw is that it's fun, and it's just plain silly. A few people seem put off by the over hyped sexuality of it, but for me that was just massively amusing and I think the developers were just having a fun time making a ridiculous character and storyline simply to carry a great combat game.

I'm certain I'm not the oly one to think this but I played the demo and felt a great sense of 'meh' about the whole thing.

It wasn't too bad but I did get the feeling that I was simply playing Devil May Cry as one of the 'let's face facts, someone is wanking during this cutscene' leading ladies that have been in pretty much all of the DMC games.

While some of the attacks did look fairly epic (like your hair and suit turning into a giant dragon and crunching a muscled badass monster) the majority of the game is blury and confusing (for the most part I found myself mashing the B button throughout the entire demo and had no serious difficulty, I wasn't even sure of what I was doing half the time either).

Emulating the gameplay of DMC isn't a bad thing (hey, it's fun) and quite a few games have made their own attempt at changing the formula (compair DMC to God of War or Drakengard and you'll see very clear differences in the gameplay and the stylization).

Bayonetta , on the other hand, more or less copies DMC perfectly with only minute changes (characters, settings and the fact that 'demons' are now 'angels' along with red orbs being replaced by the rings from Sonic) so it does raise the question of why I should be interested in this game rather than Devil May Cry?

The demo was pitiful. Somewhere between Final Fantasy, Street Fighter and DOA - sometimes the whole is NOT better than the sum of it's parts!

Should be good for some hentai though ;-)
