A large majority of the people that know me have picked up several of my nicknames, especially if they've spent any period of time with me online. (Any MMO, or chat clients like Yahoo or AIM, or just discussion boards for Games or RPs.)

When they do, they often take to using the shorthand version of the online moniker because it's easier to disassociate saying my actual name with me so they don't accidentally spill my identity out on the internet (Seriously, how could anyone find out who I am specifically with the first name "Taylor"? Even if you kicked down every door of every house containing a "Taylor" in it, you'll be arrested for pedophilia before you even get anywhere near me, in Louisiana alone, no less.). So, I've been referred to as Captain for about 6 years now, or "Cap" or "Cap'n" for short.

Kinda scary, though, considering most of my ex-girlfriends do it too. (Do you have a bit of Captain in you?)

I Think I Just May Agree With You.

Not That I Am The Ultra Joe In Real Life, But That Online, Me And This Avatar Have Become Inseparable.
This makes me sad that I haven't created a definite persona for my avatar yet...... It's like I'm a blob of clay or something that has no ultra or ninja bits to it

*sigh*........... Just you wait- it'll develop some personality eventually
I tripped over it, personally. Mostly 'cause I kept using robots. To list my avatars, chronologically:

I am supreme commander of the Fleet of Frost and Flame, one of many offensive units in the Crusade of the Golden Blades. As we speak I am watching you from beyond the meager boundaries of your solar system, accessing you Internet to scout and intimidate. Soon your planet will be in range of my mystic abilities and mighty forces will wreak havok and ruin upon your pathetic "society."

It won't be long now and you'll all be deceased or in the thrall of the mightiest empire to ever grace the Multiverse.

My avatar is me. In an iPod style silhouette.
Oh, really? I've seen that picture elsewhere on the internet used by other people as their avatars.

Also, everyone pictures me as Frohman. Which, when I'm trying to be funny sometimes, isn't a bad guess.

In real life people call me an asshole. Do you guys think I'm an asshole? If so, mission accomplished.

My Skull avatar is pretty much the same as both my gamer-picture and my Battle Helmet In Real Life.

Embarassingly enough, that is actually me having a stroke and seziur in my avatar right now.

I would do the exact same thing in real life though.

That says alot about me...

I remember one time, during lunch, my friends started chanting "Jump, jump, jump, jump. Jump-a-lion Jump-a-lion" sortof in rythm of the One Winged Angel song.

It was halarious, the teachers were looking at us as if we were crazy. We also call one of our friends Morty from the username he uses "Imortal-somethingsomething" whatever. And at one point, they were trying to get the teachers to call me "Jumplion", though that failed miserably.

My avatar is be in South Park form, at the time it was made it looked just like me. Right down to the AC/DC t-shirt and the iPod. But my hair has been cut since then so it's not an exact match anymore.

As for my online persona, it's the same as my real world persona. I don't say 'lol' and things like that out loud unless I'm making a joke about people who do. I don't act any differently on forums as I do in real life. So I'm an exception to Tycho's internet fuckwad theory I suppose. As all most of us on The Escapist are I think.

I got my name from a joke involving who really freed the slaves in America. then it became my gamer tag and now its kind of funny to hear my nickname black because I'm o so very white. and my pic comes from the clan I'm in on CoD4.

I'm pretty much my avatar. I try to speak correctly and use as many difficult words, I try to be nice and I suck at beating the combine. Always.

In real life, I'm less social and I still suck at beating the combine.

Uhh, no one really calls me Evilbunny offline. Also, I don't look like my picture which is a good thing because I would scare the shit out of people if I did.

I am not Edward Elric, I cannot clap my hands and destory anything I wish. I also have real limbs, although auto-mail in real life would be NICE. Especially if you could alchemify it to have a blade.
*EDIT*
I'm also 6'4, not a half-pint.

Personally, I don't really put on airs unless it's an RP, in which case I'll use a character that I start thinking like in real life, as long as the RP is still going. Otherwise, I am much the same online as off: straightforward, charging in headfirst (in the case of games). I am somewhat more verbose online, but that's just because when I talk in reality I would look rather odd trying to think of the best word to use every couple of seconds.

Sometimes I'll call myself "the philman." Like "THE PHILMAN IS VICTORIOUS" or "GET THE PHILMAN A SODA" and suchlike.

Hmm, ok. I guess becomming my avatar is also becomming my gaming, joking, silly self. Pretending to be evil and think up evil things, when in realy life I wouldn't harm a puppy. Orphans on the other hand. *shakes fist* They think they're so great! I'll teach 'em!
I'm an orphan.

*silence*

Can you hear the awkwardness?
Well... you know I didn't mean it directly at anyone. (Hides the wrench) Wow, awkward.

I never actually meant it in that way, just the cute old british ones with scarfs around their necks, "Please, sir can I've some money?" types. Damn them and their adorability! Is it me or is this hole keep on getting bigger?
Never think of it as getting harder to clamber out of. Instead, think of it as an exponentially increasing chance of finding pirate treasure!

Unforutnatly, I'm not an Overlord Yet, nor has my face splintered into millions of pieces due to a glitch.

I'm getting there though.
