I would kill for a co-op option. Was discussing this recently with a friend of mine and we really see it as the next step towards Elder Scrolls perfection.

Playing the game with a friend sounds interesting and fun, but it is impractical for so many reasons that it probably just isn't worth it.

Well, kudos to that modder for figuring out how to do it. Impressive achievement.

Would I play it? Hell no. It'll probably be a while before I even try Ennui Simulator 5 (sorry, I meant Elder Scrolls 5) again even without having to deal with other real humans in my game.

If I really want to run around a frozen forest shooting things with a bow and arrow while other people in robes who can't spell hurl ill-thought-out racist or heterosexist epithets at me, I'll just raid a klan meeting in the woods.

MMO with character controlled time-slowing mechanism does not mix.
They could go the other direction and make that shout speed the character up, relatively it'd be the exact same thing as slowing everything else down. I mean, it'd be harder to control, so it wouldn't be quite the same, but it's better than disabling it all together

Judging from this video? No, Skyrim does not need silly people crowding up the gate to Whiterun or running around and slamming into NPCs.
50+ Redguard standing, blocking the way into city gates. "Riften's closed. Due to dragon AIDS."

Calling it now.

Dragging myself back on-topic: I think my reaction is a resounding "Ehh." It -sounds- like a nice idea, but in practice...probably not so much. At least not without some serious tweaks to game mechanics and, as others have said; a thousand Dovahkiin would be fairly silly.

Yes, yes and yes. I want a multiplayer option. Not MMO style though, just plain co-op. Me and four or five of my friends running around in Skyrim would be grat.

The ability to see other players in cities and invite them for some coop-action would be great, like in Fable 2 (though not something like gamertags, I'd like to see the real player model). But Skyrim as an MMO? That's too much for me.

Anyway, nice idea. I hope this will be developed further. :)

That was hot but it was "Don't play LMFAO at an execution" that made my morning, and also Sky Jump.

With most of my RPGs (except JRPGs) being MMOs, Skyrim does feel lonely at times. I think just being able to log in with others, kind of like Demon's Souls but they are actually there, with a chat function, and that's it, would be pretty cool. Breezehome might be busy, but I can handle the tradeoff. You don't need any parties or multiplayer instances.

Would be interesting to see if a mod community could turn a single player game into an MMO. And I don't mean Starcraft Universe because that is a different game. This is the beginning of a noble attempt which gets my whole-hearted support.

This is a great milestone,(Morrowind modders attempted multiplayer as well) but I only want coop in Skyrim, and only one or two others with me, if any at all. What I'd like to see is a LAN multiplayer mod where one player can enter another player's world, or better yet two players can enter world #3 so they don't ruin each other's games and can still have fun doing what they want.

Skyrim as an MMO is a terribad idea. Skyrim as a co-op game, played with a good friend, however, could work very well.

Although i am a little bit hazy on the details of friends completing quests in your game

Play New Vegas and get Boone as a companion, you'll never get a kill again XD

I like the idea of joining up with friends to clear a dungeon, but the game isn't really built for it and I only want friends there, not some random people. Coop would be nice, but I don't think it'd add anything to the experience.
Still, gotta love the initiative, hope it works out!

Personally. Im just waiting for the inevitable Cyrodiil and Morrowind mods. I mean the ones that add those into the game.

I hate to add to the nay-saying, but Skyrim will never really be playable in co-op, regardless of the best efforts of modders.

As for Bethesda adding co-op to the series: please no. First, everything about the game would have to change to accommodate it. Second, why can't somebody else do it? Bethesda can't do everything and I don't want them to try. I want awesome co-op RPGs, but not at the cost of what I have now.

While a Skyrim Multiplayer sounds interesting in theory, I can only imagine how ludicrously easy the game would become, given how well-built characters already curbstomp about 99% of the enemies you'll see in the game. Having more than three people fighting a dragon would reduce it more to 'how fast can you kill a dragon?' rather than 'killing a dragon'.
