TES fanbase is prbabaly the secon most innovative fanbase ive seen. this is intresting, if they can get it to work like the San andreas people did it could be a great game. but so far - too early to show off yet. Still having skyrim world opulated by rela people would be intresting to see.

If difficulty could be scaled up appropriately, having me and my buddies take down an elder dragon with our multiple dovahkiins would be a blast!

Many would love to play multiplayer Elder Scrolls just because of the sound of the idea, but I think the main reasons Bethesda hasn't tried it is 1: They know their product is good enough to stand on single-player alone and 2: Multiplayer would likely complicate many of the games functions, such as the time system, fast-travel, waiting/sleeping, etc. What happens if one person travels somewhere that's 3 hours from his/her current location and the other player either doesn't want to travel at all? What happens if one player tries to wait/sleep for a few hours right as another player is taking on a dragon? Will the players be teathered together in that anyone joining the host doesn't have all the freedoms normally granted in Skyrim's open world? That being the case, would they not essentially just be a random NPC Follower that's actually controlled by a person?

I think we should keep in mind that combining two good things (like Skyrim and Multiplayer) doesn't always equate to a great outcome. As Jim Gaffigan said: "Fruit: good. Cake: great. Fruit Cake: nasty crap."

I might consider it when I am done with the game in single-player.
one question, what is for you being done with the game in single-player??

beating the main quest??

completing the whole objectives that there exist?

playing the path of every focused character? (warrior, restoration mage, destruction mage, archer, thief, etc) and then the path of all the mixes there can be?

hehe, thats why i dont really feel that this game needs multiplayer, but well, kudos for those that enjoy playing with a party of friends, i just dont have any gamer friends, and generally avoid multi player games on a regular basis :p

2~4 player co-op in Skyrim is something I'd really like to see officially implemented.
I think Bethesda should stick to what they know and focus on that, let the players sort things
out by modding the game and maybe later even have a dlc released.

By that i mean Bethesda going hand in hand (since they are still a company and need to make money) with modder(s) and agreeing to co-release a mod/dlc.

Does that sound like something that might actually happen?

If Skyrim supports online co-op play, I guarantee two more sales - one for myself, and one for my best friend. If it had shipped with co-op, I would already have bought those copies.

And by now, he would have bought another copy so his kids could play with us, making 3 more sales total. Bethesda's decades-long decision to not include multiplayer (I once emailed the actual developer of Morrowind about it and got a "We don't want to" response from him - no lie) has, imo, cost it the kind of popularity that the MW series enjoys.

To support my argument, if MW did NOT support multiplayer, how many people would have known about or bought it? I say it would still have been a successful game, but with a fraction of the sales. Multiplayer by its very definition expands the market for a game.

I wish. Better imo though is the developers making the framework and assets for the game and letting modders create the actual gameplay content via a marketplace "mod store" model. That way everyone is doing what they're best at, and we customers get the most possible options for gameplay. It's WAY past time for something like that to happen.

For me, being done with the single player is when I am happy with the outcome. That could mean bringing stability to society or it could just be settling down in a small town without ever trying the main quest. I won't know till I play the game.

Designed for single player but with a bit of tweaking I reckon it would be a good laugh alright, be interesting to see how this pans out.

I'd love to be able to enter someones game just to gank them. Make that an option, please. My assassination contracts are so bland and boring these days.

I think there is enough Multi player games out there thanks. Besides, if a single modder can make this mod in less than a month without that kit thing in January, imagine what he could make of it after that kit has been released with more time spent too.

No no, let Bethesda make a single player game, and then if someone wants it enough they can add multi player later.

Big thanks to modders are in order I think.

The only reason I would want multiplayer would be to play with one or two of my friends, not go online with the entire fucking community.

But honestly, I'm not sure that I would want multiplayer clogging up my Skyrim What do you guys think? Would you download a multiplayer mod? Should Bethesda include multiplayer in their Elder Scroll games or is singleplayer enough for you?
What do I think? Well, I'm sure you're all very nice people (well, most of you people on the Internet, anyway ^_^ ), but "please stay out of my Elder Scrolls game" would adequately sum up what I think. The Elder Scrolls has always been a solitary experience for me, since day one (and I've been playing TES games since Arena), and I couldn't imagine having to share that with other players. Not to mention that the TES games would kinda lose their flavor if you had thousands of Dovahkiins, Nerevarines or Champions of Cyrodiil running around. It's my feeling that it would cheapen the experience.
Heck, I can barely tolerate followers, and even then, only because they provide extra storage space for my loot!
Not to mention that if TES games are buggy now, bringing them online would probably crash the Internet. Or bring on the Apocalypse or something.
In the end, I'm mostly a single player gamer kind of a girl in the end: I mostly play games which I can pause, or quit at a moment's notice for RL reasons. (Although I *do* miss playing TF2 with the Escapist UK server crowd [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Team-Fortress-2-Group-PC], they're an awesome bunch.)
I agree... The time when a Chineese guy walks up to me, in Skyrim, and offers me 30.000 gold for the price of 7$, is the time when all the magic leaves Tamriel..! Or imagine Dagoth Ur Noooping you on your way to The Heart of Lorcan... Terrible.

Skyrim with Neverwinter Nights style persistent worlds? That I could do.
I was about to say! If they had intentionally put in multilayer support this could have been the next Neverwinter Nights!

An MMO? Tempting, but no. I like the idea but it just wouldn't fit the feel of the Elder Scrolls world you know? It'd be like making an MMO Zelda or something.

Now multi-player? HECK YES. I would love to have an adventuring party traipsing across Skyrim, Cyrodil, Blackmarsh, Hammerfell and all the rest. I'd love to have a tanky-companion for my mage who wouldn't walk in front of my spells or I could at least tell to move. Like wise I might enjoy having along a scout character for my big noisy fighter, right? So while a full-blown MMO might not work, a Multi-player Elder Scrolls would work very well IMHO.

I like it. I don't want a world with tons of players, but being able to connect with friends and such would be neat.

Pure awesome. Skyrim is essentially a single player MMO as it is, with it's scope. I'd love to see how many players they plan to have it, or how much it can max out at. I'd probably prefer smaller servers with my friends, but it could be awesome to have pass say 50 people, for a start. Could be awesome, and pretty wicked that they can make this even before there's a dev kit out.
