Have you ever been "converted"? Have you gone from disliking something to liking it? Or vice versa? Who, if anyone, "Converted" you? Are you glad you discovered whatever it is that you discovered?

I used to be a fan of anime, but I slowly came to dislike it became more shallow and idiotic over time and I developed more mature tastes (Not a stab at anime fans).

I used to listen to Linkin Park (I know I know!) until I discovered classic rock, now nothing that comes out today even compares in my mind.

So, what have you been "Converted" to?

I used to deny any attempt to get me to watch "The Thick of It". When I finally got around to it, I found one of my favourite shows.

FUCK THAT SHIT.

SAY IT WITH ME!!!!

Nah seriously I used to hate music that stemed from metal like nu-metal and hardcore/metalcore, but now I'm like open to all that stuff and I identify myself as all those people.

I used to ignore Anime. It was the domain of Digimon, Naruto, Sailor Moon. Kids' shows, saturday morning cartoons. Probably better than what America was putting out, but nothing above and beyond special.

Then I saw Death Note.

I wasn't so much converted to Anime, but I discovered that in Japan, animation is a perfectly legitimate way to tell a story, and doesn't necessarily imply child-like stories or simplistic ideas or even cartoony graphics. Then I wondered why we don't do this in America. There have been dark and serious "cartoons" in the West. I still remember when my mom rented Wizards, thinking since it was for kids because it was animated. Wrong!

*shivers* When you put it that way, it sounds creepier. Like, you've been brainwashed into hating your previous like.
Anyway, I used to not like peas or gravy, but now...peas are okay and gravy is a necessity. MY IDENTITY IS BEING WARPED AS WE SPEAK!!!

I used to hate, truly HATE FPS games. Now I quite enjoy them. The thing that 'converted' me was when I got bored and decided to experiment FPS mode in Star Wars Battlefront on the PSP.

I used to listen to Linkin Park too (go figure.) I think I just liked it for the rock part, and the piano/ classical side of it. The first song I heard was 'Breaking the Habit' and that was a bit nice. Now I've moved from Alt rock to rock to metal and now to Symphonic Metal. I'm staying there. All the greatness of pianos, Violins/cellos, and choirs (classical instruments) combined with heavy guitars and drums. Makes quite a sound, usually making things 'epic'; like you could almost find it in a movie. Lots of Latin as well.

I suppose I only get 'converted' to things over gradual periods of time where, at the end, I finally come to learn what I truly want.

Edit: Remembered an actual 'conversion'. I used to watch anime in the form of cartoons. Dubbed on Cartoon Network and such. I had a friend over an MMO I used to frequently play who swore by subs and kept trying to persuade me. After a good long time, I finally decided to try out his advice. A good 2 years later, I simply can't stand Dub and will not watch any anime that isn't subbed. I've also watched a lot more anime which has filled my time nicely. I believe that guys' name was Jeff. I give my thanks to him, I guess.

I used to be the biggest halo Flameboy, pretty much meaning I WAS a fanboy that would flame on anyone who wasnt. I am happily not that person anymore and I havent been for years (well since Halo 3 came out.).

I also used to HATE rap but now I find myself listening to it more often.

Other than that Ireally don't "convert" much, and if i do its by myself without anyone els influencing it.

Hmm, it took a lot of convincing to get me to watch the US version of The Office. I love most UK comedies but dislike most US ones, I loved the original Office and I wasn't all that keen to try out the US version. I even watched the first few episodes and didn't think much of them.

Then a Chinese student with a surprisingly sophisticated love of various TV shows insisted I give it another chance. I did. Now I love it more than the UK version, in some ways.

Hm...well I use to be a huge fan of pop-punk, which was started with my love for blink-182 (I still like them, but I was listening to simple plan and fall out boy, and that's just not cool), but then I heard Nirvana and that sort of shifted my whole attitude toward music. A couple years later, I heard Pink Floyd... yeah, there's no going back after that.

On another note, I still listen to Linkin Park..... Hybrid Theory and Meteora are fucking awesome, despite being repetitive and lacking in any sort of impressive or original musicality... their new stuff though is painfully mediocre, so no thanks.

I was actually like that. Although I kind of convinced myself (based on adverts mainly) that the US version would be trash compared to the British version. It's certainly different, and is obviously nowhere near as dry. That said, it's still damn funny.

My conversion is from a coffee hater to a coffee lover. I used to be solely a tea man, but since starting work full time I find I can't go without coffee. Sometimes I'm so torn now I have a mug of tea as well as a mug of coffee :/

No.

The only "conversion" I've been through is from christianity to atheism, and I dont even call that "conversion" as much as it is depicted as "common sense" to me.

I converted from halo to COD4 back in the day, haven't looked back since. A few music choices too but I think everyone does that a million times.

I was really opposed to some shows out there like Firefly and Arrested Development because of all of the fans I knew of those shows were really obnoxious and would talk about those shows incessantly

then I actually watched them... and had to admit they were actually pretty amazing

Same here but for me the conversion came after watching Cowboy Bebop for the first time (I got into death note later). I think Cowboy Bebop is the main anime converter.

When I was in Primary school I listened to music I now consider to be pretty shit. Then one day I went for a car ride with a mate, in which all that was played was AC/DC, Rolling Stones, the Who and the occasional slip-knot song and my eyes (and ears) were opened like never before. I haven't looked (or listened) back.

I used to hate Enter Shikari without having heard them. I heard them and they are now my favorite band, above even Within Temptation.

I used to be a massive Playstation fanboy and was dieing to get a PS3. Then I bought a 360 cause I couldn't afford a PS3, and the PS fanboy in me shut the hell up after I realised theres hardly any difference in the two.

I used to despise Facebook. Then I started university and its now my 2nd most visted site after here.

I used to listen exclusively to classical music for the longest time, but at 15, my friend introduced me to metal one time we were drunk, and I was sold.
