As odd as it sounds I am a firm believe that "An Armed Society Is a Polite Society". I figure that if we removed concealed carry laws/requirements all the time, made firearms training a part of the mandatory educational process, and had every citizen walking arounf with a gun on their hip/thigh in plain site alomst 24/7 we wouldn't be having conversations like this. Everyone would be polite as a matter of course.

Robert Heinlan is missed.

In high school, we always had people coming in to talk about stuff. Drugs, fires, stuff like that. Once, we had people from the Good Samaritans in, giving a talk about suicide and such. Now, at the end of these talks, tradition was that the teacher would ask a pupil to say some words about how we're glad they came, that we learned plenty, yada-yada. So the teacher came and asked me if I could say something. So I stand up, give a few seconds to get the suspense built up, and say ... "Ta" ... and sat down. The teacher told me I was rude, but judging by the laughter, everyone else, including the speakers, thought it was quite amusing.

Now, if you'll excuse me, my cat has got stuck behind a plant pot.

That happened to me, except with my idiotic under graduate theology teacher.
I asked a valid question, and he treated me like a complete retard, so, instead of turning my paper in to the designated area, I drew a gigantic field of middle fingers and then put it on his desk.
Haha, that's awesome. I should have done that.
Trouble was, this teacher was about 105 and was one of those teachers who could keep a class quiet without trying. She always talked about her cats too o_O
Yeah, I dislike having scary old cat ladies as teachers.

As much as I admire honesty, tact is also important. A friend of mine 'tells it straight' all the time and people tend to get quite annoyed at him.
If you're going to be rude, do it subtly. It's more amusing when people can't figure it out.
I'm a lot like your friend. I try to like ... control myself when it comes to holding back something but half the time I just get pissed off.

OT: It did seem a bit rude, although you may of just been wanting to go to gym. You were 7. But no excuse here. Rudeness, not cool.

I'm aware that I'm a callous ass. All of my friends are also aware of it, painfully from time to time. Some of them even share the trait. My day is filled with Snide, Sarcastic and Droll remarks. It drove my parents nuts. Now it keeps me balaned on the social precipice of "This guy's a dick, but damn can he be funny".

According to TVTropes.net I am a "Deadpan Snarker". Booyah.

kinda me being rude, kinda him being a jackass
happened today on Halloween actually, neighbors dog got loose, I was trying to help catch it, well it got over to the next street through a back yard so i followed it, after trying to get the dog for a couple minutes (damn thing wouldnt stop :| ) this guy started yelling at me, storming out of his back door,

him - 'I'm gonna call the cops and get my ass thrown in jail so fast my head will spin!'
me - 'I apologize sir, i was trying to-'
him - 'Get the hell out of my yard, that is trespassing!'
*at this point hes less than a foot from me yelling like a drill instructor*
me - 'and i deeply apologize for that sir, i was just-'
him - 'I want your ass out on the street!'
me - 'yes sir, im just trying to apologize'
him - 'I never want to see you in my yard again or i will press charges!'

well i apologized to his wife as well and had to all the way up his street and down mine.
and this guy had also called the cops on the kids that live next to me, they own 3 feet beyond their fence and the guy called them anyways, the officer showed up kinda pissed cause he knew the kind of temper that guy had.

Yeah, i shouldnt have gone in his yard, but he went total ape shit when i had not even looked at any of his stuff.

I'm a cynicic... I'm rude by default.

No, actually I am well behaved saying thanks and please, knowing my mannes and stuff...

Besides, @OP's post. That is so not the way to treat a seven year old. Are you british? (not to have predujice, but we are having a subject about youths in britain in my english class and compared to denmark its kindof insane what people do to their kids over there...)

There. I was rude just now. Hope OP will forgive me.

If the OP was simply trying to convey that he wanted to start gym class, then I don't think he was being very rude. I guess it partially depends on the manner in which you say something.

Teachers can be very high-strung, too.

almost everything I say or do.
Basically this. I'm have far too much innate honesty and too little tact or regard for others feelings. It ends up rubbing people the wrong way a lot.

Its interesting that a lot of people who lack any form of tact and are always extremely blunt seem to believe that they are better people for being 'honest' all the time.
Ah, the typical "Why I should be on Big Brother" argument: "I'm propuh jenyooeeen, I speak mah manndd and I dont take crap from nuh-un!"

The reason that would be considered rude is because you started off by saying "Can you please leave?" which made the focus of the comment about her, rather than the gym class.
From that people would infer the reason you wanted her to go was because you didn't like her and the gym class was just an excuse.
Further, you said "please" in the comment which as a 7 year old you would think would make it better, but as the comment had the implication that you didn't like her, adding please to a comment that was going to be considered rude made it sound like you were trying to be superior to her too. Making the situation worse.

A lot of us Brits are cold, conceited, deceitful bastards because noone knows what the fuck to do with you when you're a child. It's a shame, really.

I don't think I'm rude. My mother always told to to say please, thank you, hold the door for people, etc. I still do those things today, so... yeah..

you should be a little more tactful, however, keep it as straight as possible without being insulting (the average person is too dumb to understand a complicated order).

As for honesty, I never lie. Just let other people assume the wrong thing.

Man I've never heard so many people gasp at me. Apparently what I did was considered rude, and the teacher made me write "I will not be rude in class" or something like that. The worst part of it was that nobody ever explained to me why that was rude, and I just wrote what my teacher told me without it having much effect.

I'm still like this, though now I'm more tactful. The direct approach is always the best.

Anyway, this thread is about you doing something other people consider rude. Especially if you don't think it is.
Think about it man, this lady came into your class to show you a skill that most consider useless and the kids in class actually liked it. Then you tell her(essentially) "Your wasting my time, let's go to gym." It's a giant shot to her self-esteem. Even if she handled it well, it still probably hurt a little.

So yeah, it was rude. You were seven though, so it was mildly acceptable. However, if you are a grown adult and still acting like this then you have a problem.

I'm not really rude since I never talk much. However, there's at least one friend who thinks I sound a little mean when I speak (even when IM'ing). I guess not speaking does that to a person. I'm also told I have a pretty deep voice for a quiet guy, so that might have something to do with it.
