Worst boss for me was any Final Fantasy past IX. Too easy.
...excluding IX of course...?
I still have nightmares because of Grand Cross. (It took me 9 tries. It always put me in an impossible situation).

Revan/Malak from KOTOR (I always forget who was who.. I think it's Malak). Was easy as hell once you took out all the cryo-frozen Jedi.
All of you.....I dare you too do it as purest lightside with no draining powers like I did the first (And only) time I fought him. I dare you!
Heal was my best friend at that fight

I'm not gonna bother with bad ones. Games are littered with them now.

I got Metal Slug 7 for the DS. That final boss is pretty good. He's so predictable, and yet may slip you up at any point. It's challenging, but not quite frustrating, and there are enough bullets flying around to get your heart pumping.

Are you kidding me? that was the lamest boss fight ever, technically you didn't even fight him
So...Boss fights require an epic duel to the death atop something high and spindly, now do they? For those who think that all fights must be fought with a sword, I have one word:

Ghandi.

Worst: I'm not sure if this counts, but the ending to Mirror's Edge just flat out was terrible. You sit through a cutscene, jump 10 feet, and win.

Best: Well, this is probably going to be unseated within the next week, but at the moment I want to say the Mega Censor from Psychonauts. I say that it will be unseated due to the fact that I'm still on my first playthrough of Psychonauts, and have yet to see the rest of the bosses.

My favorite final boss is probably Phantasy Star Online. Dark Falz was an intense battle, and the whole beginning with the peaceful field morphing into a twisted nightmare is super well done. I still do it, from time to time, on Blue Burst.

I also love Frank Horrigan at the end of Fallout 2, though he was a cheap son of a gun.

I can't think of a lot of BAD final bosses, because I try to forget games that aren't fun. Dead Space I liked until that piss-easy final boss, and Halo 3's boss was an embarrassment, too.

Best final boss fight ever is easily Ganon in Ocarina of Time:

Everything about that fight is so memorable: Thinking it's all over beforehand, and then seeing the transformation into a large shadowy creature, losing the Master Sword before the fight even begins, surronded by a wall of flames, only catching small glimpses of what the monster looks like when the lightning strikes, all with an epic song playing in the background.

Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. He was just a bonus boss for the Square Enix fanboys, but he was more difficult than the actual final boss. He is very hard and has the asshole-ish abilities of teleporting randomly and a tough attack where he lowered your health to 1.

Best: Captain K. Rool in Donky Kong Country: Diddy Kong's Quest.
It starts off simple enough. He shoots cannonballs at you. Eventually one of the cannonballs will stay still. You throw it into his gun and it will explode in comedic fashion. He starts shooting the balls in bizarre patterns, some have spikes so you can't grab them. He starts moving so fast that he's invisible, he starts shooting ghosts that screw up the controls, he'll appear behind you and try to suck you into the gun. It's insane and takes split-second reaction time.
Also, Liquid Ocelot in MGS4.

Worst: The Brumak at the end of Gears 2. In fact, I don't even know if that's a boss fight. To borrow a term from Yahtzee, it was more like an ill tempered traffic barrier.

Why is no-one saying this: The Final Boss in Crysis!!!

Sure its Not a particularly Hard fight if you do it right, But in what other game do you (spoiler) Fight A giant towering Alien Exosuit, while on a flaming Aircraft carrier , Before Blwoing Pieces off it one By one with a Tactical Nuke Launcher before Fleeing in a VTOL as the Exosuit and Carrier Sink in a giant whirlpool... Hell Yeah

Worst? Hmmm, The Bioshock boss was pretty disappointing, but I think The strider at the end of episode one (HL) was the biggest let down. Fleeing a War-torn city with a giant reactor about to explode and what do you get? One Strider... Not even a super strider or something. it doesn't even have a good entrance, it's just there. AND it forces you to take the long way round -_-

Oh yeah and the Final Boss(es) in the Karoshi series is awesome :)

Best boss ever was the end boss in Fable 2. Took awhile to figure out how to kill him, but when you do you feel so smart.
I'm not trying to poke fun, at least I don't think, but it really didn't take you longer than two seconds to figure that out ... did it?

As for the question at hand. Best boss fight was Earth Worm Jim 2 : Bob the Killer Goldfish. I never laughed so hard in my entire life at that point. I still find it hilarious. As for the worst boss fight ... gee, that would be like asking me to name the worst Uwe Boll movie; plenty of candidates but all right equally deserving.

Best: inFAMOUS

Worst: Either Gears of War 2 or Halo 3. They where too short and too easy.

Wow, someone else that remembers Spartan: Total Warrior. Such an amazing game, so underrated. Yeah the final boss was quite hard, but you can hit him with your god powers if you get behind him whilst he launches that uber-powerful floor-crawling flame...thing. The final level was sweet, as was the fight against the Minotaur and the Gates of Saturn level.

Worst final boss? Bowser in New Super Mario Bros on DS. Just save up a Mega Mushroom, use Mega Mushroom, stomp his arse and win instantly. Can't think of the best final boss at the moment. Dead Space's would have been up there if it wasn't so piss easy - that thing was HUGE and so epic but a complete walkover.

Saren was pretty easy in Mass Effect. Well, if you forced him into a logical paradox and made him kill himself .

Worst- Guilty Spark at the end of Halo 3- there's literally no skill required.
1) Move away from force field.
2) Wait until African-American support character does the hard part, then gets killed.
3) Take aforementioned buddy's laser cannon.
4) Shoop da Whoop.
5) Repeat #4 until glowing orb gets angry and implodes.
the guilty spark was originaly going to just be a cutscene but bungie decided that players would want to finish it off themselfs so thats the reason hes so weak

Best: Hard to choose... but I'd have to choose the Sora vs Sephiroth battle in Kingdom Hearts 2. Whilst not quite as hard as the first game, it was more impressive and more fun to play. Plus, the sense of achievement was awesome.

Worst: I'm torn between two:
a)the final boss fight on Jumping Flash - it was boring, plain and did not feel as good as any other boss fight out there at the time
b) or General Adam at the end of Killzone 1. I killed him with a Pistol for freaking sake, on the highest difficulty (and i know I'm not the best shot)

Oh, and special note to Shadow of the Colossus - every boss fight was exhilarating.

dude I never got to play S:TW even tho I wanted to when it came out (and keep in mind this was before the 300 craze...ah if timing had only been better lol)

but yeah, I'm not all that upset with the GoW2 and H2&3 "end boss fights"
but I can agree for many of the other mentioned bad ones
