These aren't people out to get you, they are people who can't currently get a job that pays as well anywhere near them. I'm the only one of any of my friends to finish college recently that has a job...at all.

I like when folks don't take it out on the employees because it changes nothing. It just ruins some innocent persons day because they were doing their job. Not everyone wants to shovel shit but far be it for me to go around heckling them because that is their job.
BAAAAAAWWWWW

Please, just stop. You're embarrassing yourself. "bawwww don't blame ME! It's not MY fault! I don't LIKE what I do!"

If you don't like what you do, don't do it. There's NOTHING that says you can't look for another job while you have this one. Get out there and do it, and quit whining to us about how moral you are.
Yes because morality is such a cut and dry thing.

Did I say >I< was doing it? No I tell people honestly what any of the services are, I tell them they likely could do it themselves, if they have trouble doing it they can come back and have it done.

I'm not embarrassing myself. You are making assumption after assumption as if you know who or what you are talking about.

Which in all cases you don't. But at least you started off your response with a retarded internet meme.
Actually, it is. There's right, and then there's wrong. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

EDIT: I actually typed up a response, but since I was just repeating myself (since it's become clear no one on this forum can actually read), whatever. Have fun at Best Buy, champ.
I'm going to assume you've never taken a Philosophy course?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morality - On Wikipedia alone there are 31 sources. If it were that easy why on Earth would they have more than a single line?

Morality has been one of the longest running discussion in the entirety of written human history. Entire religions have been built up around conflicting opinions of what is right and wrong.

Every single culture has differing beliefs on the topic. There are some smaller 'universal' rules that people seem to think are unanimous yet each culture still justifies them and construes them to make them right instead of wrong, and vice versa.

Who decides what is right and wrong?

There are wars that cost hundreds, thousands, or millions of lives that at their core involve issues that each nation involved disagrees with the morality of.

It only becomes easy in the extreme, and quite honestly anyone who disagrees with that is likely either naive or omniscient.

However I appreciate your succinctness on the topic of Best Buy and I'll try my best. Overall though whenever you think everyone else has the problem it is likely because it is you (that bit of advice goes for anyone, myself included).

PS. I'm well aware that you said "Nothing is stopping you from finding a job" and I responded instead to the fact that I'm not out scamming folks. However I did address that I have been and still am, I'm here (and have been for 3 weeks) because this is the only place hiring. I'm 31k dollars in debt because of college, I can't risk moving to another state at the moment to get a job that could vanish (had it happen prior to college with Sony). I was thinking about editing it in to the original post but figured it would get redundant.

Have you been out looking for a job lately? Have you ever worked retail? If your answer to both of these is "yes," then enjoy your snarking!
If it's not, then perhaps you ought to try both before making such a comment.

Wow, what an open-minded and reasonable claim.

I didn't say "QUIT YOUR JOB NOW ROAR!" I said, if you have a problem, there's nothing stopping you for looking for a new job WHILE YOU HAVE THAT ONE. If you can't find a new one, then obviously I'm not going to suggest quitting. But, that's the point. He isn't looking. He's crying about how he can't be blamed for anything, about how he can't help anything, boo hoo hoo. Give me a break, please.
You're absolutely right, you did say that and I glossed right over it. Apologies for that.

But you didn't answer the question. What do you do for a living?

I probably won't be the first or the last to introduce you to the concept of 'shades of grey' when we're talking about morality along with the famous quote 'there is no right or wrong but thinking makes it so'.

And before you insult the hundreds of people on this forum by stating that you believe you are the only intelligent one here, I am going to have to break it to you that you are very wrong indeed.

Back on topic, wherever you find someone who is unwilling or lacking the knowledge to do something you will more than likely find someone who will see the oppertunity to charge them for the conveinience of letting someone else do it.

I'm pretty certain that rip-offs like this happen quite a lot (this doesn't make it acceptable in any way) so I can't say that I'm suprised that someone finally started applying it to the 'alien technologies of video games' (let's face it, we have the stereotype of mums being hopelessly lost in game shops for a good reason).

wouldn't that mean that the customer is stupid and Best Buy is the smartest company ever for making an easy extra 30$?
Right up until they get raped by the lawsuits.
Oh if only, if only. Sadly, anyone who did this would likely make sure that they couldn't be sued for this.
And also unfortunately Best Buy has corporate lawyers equipped, which gives plus 80% to their lawsuit resistance stat.

Best buy really does suck what they can out of people who don't know a thing about anything. They tried to sell me a $100 HDMI cable with my PS3, telling me my current one doesn't have the same "range" as the $100 one. There's no difference between HDMI cables, there's no signal loss, the ONE THING you have to look for is if it's rated for 720p or 1080p other than that, nothing. I got a 7 dollar cable from New Egg and I can tell you there's no difference from a top brand Monster Cable. It's digital, there's no signal loss.

Wow, people act like "OMG I'll never buy from Best Buy because they do this now, EVAR!!!11one". I'm not going to not buy things from Best Buy because of this idiocy. I'll just not buy something like this from them. I'm very well technology inclined and rather picky so they'd know better than to try and pass something junky or stupid off on me (And I'd tell them so - but to be honest the people who work at Best Buy are useless tools who I kid you not make fart jokes and punch each other rather than help customers, and sadly that was spoken from true first hand experience). This sounds just like the crowd of complainers for L4D2. "We're not buying it!!11! Valve r t3h sux and we're boycotting!!" And when the game comes out, how many of them will go out and buy it anyway. What's a better choice than Best Buy for a local store - Gamestop? Now there are some real scumbags, overcharging on used games ($5 off - totally a fair price for a used game vs a new one). No, I think you people are saying one thing and will do something different. This incident will not hurt Best Buy's sales at all.

All I use Best Buy for is purchasing software. Never buy a PC there I build my own, never fix it there, I fix my own. Never buy home audio - I buy superior quality that they wouldn't carry (Unless you want to consider one of their Magnolia stores). TV - maybe, haven't had a need for another in some time. Movies and music - if I'm there. You people act like the fact they're a big store makes them this criminal organization. Please, if you want to pay highway robbery for outdated parts go to one of the small family run computer stores - their prices are outrageously high and most are very "Know-it-all"-ish. I buy all PC hardware online via TigerDirect or Newegg as should everyone else.

Still, when CompUSA was around they were the bad guys. I'll never forget the time I pushed the selector button to hear some computer speakers they had hooked up and some idiot had it cranked up (And it was the kind with a digital volume indicator) and it blasted my ears off and I turned it down right away, but some rude training manager came out from a private room and told me not to turn the stuff up as they were training on the other side of the wall. I told the manager and he got his ass chewed out for that one - like it's A) My fault someone turned it up, B) My fault they put the speakers next to their training room (Brilliant), or C) Not my right as a customer to sample something before I buy it? Then Circuit City is and have always been the underlying crooks (My father worked for them - first hand knowledge of it). If Best Buy goes out of business as the prior companies have who will you buy technology goods from? Wal-Mart? Target? No, Best Buy is an acceptable "evil" if some need call it that.

I disapprove of this nonsensery they're doing to the 360s but I'd definitely call them out on it and perhaps get a discount off the unit were I going to buy another 360 (But you don't deal with this silliness buying one at launch). And why criminalize them for charging installation fees for hardware? There are tons of idiots out there who call their computer case the hard drive and are totally clueless. Companies are out to make money and that's a real easy one.

Any of you people talking about buying these computers for someone would be best advised to just build one for them if you're this computer person you claim to be. Building PCs now is so easy, I remember when you had to read the motherboard manual like the Bible to get the computer running - I built my present rig 100% plug and play. I only needed the manual to identify the correct pins for the case accessories and other stuff. Far better than paying too much for an inferior product to one you build yourself and you have far more options when it comes to parts too. But this is lost wording to most...

This sounds exactly like the kind of marketing idea some 12 year old came up with, because he isn't able to get an internet connection on his Xbox...

Yeah I've worked at a few retail places.

The only good one was the Navy Exchange and that was because they didn't really care about making money since they don't open new stores (just renovate).

Though on the flip side it was also the least rewarding of any of my jobs.

Retail will always involve underinforming and overcharging. Mainly because people are constantly under informed and apt to only complain instead of actually changing.

Wait a minute, didn't the 360 remain the same with the elite becoming the regular? So why is this why one company rising in price?
Surely people will just buy the console from somewhere else?

I find it funny that the commercials keep talking about how they're not scamming you or pressuring you like other stores. This just makes this even funnier.

*smacks head* Geniuses!

Though this could be feasible if you have no connection and you want the NXE (for whatever reason) they could do it for you but 30 bucks?!? No way.

I just finish checking EVERY 360 at TWO local Best Buys and none of them had marked "updates" and I asked both managers about this and they never heard of this. So yeah. It's still shady that "Kim" would do this.

I'm sure Microsoft knows, because this sounds suspiciously like something THEY'D do.
Right, because they have always charged for updates.
well not so much that, but just being all around greasy... for example, Microsoft charges every 360 user for DLC that is free on PC, why? because they can that is the only reason! Although I can't see Microsoft just letting it slide because they might do something similar, MS is rather hypocritical in that sense & would probably nail Bestbuy if they knew
