Allow me to say that this thread is FREAKIN AWESOME and I am nearly in nostalgia tears.

OT: I'd have to say that the original Pokemon theme is one of the most enduring and high quality theme songs I've ever heard in a cartoon. Honorable mention goes to Batman: The Animated Series. Danny Elfman is the man.

Very unique series. I found out about it a few years ago.
I wanna also say Cybersix, but that classifies as anime in my mind, which deserves another thread.

If I were to include anime intros, I'd have about 8 different series that blow all of these out of the water. IMO of course.
Cybersix ain't anime. The animation was done in Japan, but so was Batman: TAS. It is based off of a Brazilian comic series, and it was a co-production between the original creators, Canadian publishing and funding, and Japanese animators.

Don, you fail at embedding :)
Let's give this a second go, because I'm interested as to what the "badass" theme is.

Hmm? I know all that. But the animation, story, and especially that ending, all remind me of an anime more than a non-japanese cartoon.
Some of these other "american" cartoons seem pretty damn anime-ish.
If it makes you feel better, I could classify all animation as western animation, since original anime was based off of Scrooge McDuck, a western animation.

Or perhaps we could be non judgemental and consider everything to be under the same medium. Anime is just the japanese word for animation anyways. They're all cartoons.

The Invader Zim theme song, obviously:

Just about all of these theme songs make me feel all nostalgic and tingly, but this one is by far the most badass of them all.

Freakazoid comes in a close second, though:

Ohh my god one of the most amazing shows I ever watched as a kid. Wish they had gone afew episodes longer to get afew more details about characters pasts in there, but still with what it was, it was fantastic.
