Pretty cool ad, I agree, the embrace was really what made it was it is.

Here's a few of my favourites from Iceland.

This one's about drinking and driving, obviously. I like it mainly because of the colours and the "plot twist" at the beginning. Entitled "Where is your stopping point".

"Slow down" features footage from places in Reykjavik and Iceland where accidents are more common than usual.

This one is called "Speed kills, for realz" (no joke, it is). I mainly like the transition at the end, there.

The title of this one is "Oh, sorry - didn't see you there". And at the end it says "look again, the motorcycles are on the streets", because in Iceland the bikers really don't ride during the long months of winter.

The name of this last one would probably be "Wouldn't give up the ghost" in English, I remember it being copied almost exactly by the Brits, although in my opinion they did it better. Couldn't find that version on youtube, though =(

BONUS : Called "Láttu ekki vín breyta þér í svín" (Don't have wine turn you into a swine) encourages responsible drinking, the sentence at the end is "Drink like a human being".

EDIT : My youtube tags fail /cry

At first I was thinking what the hell kind of commercial is this? But then after watching through the whole thing it had that awe-inspiring tingle. I think I was close to shedding a tear with the music - ads always have this play on emotions. Anyways straying away from my over emotional self - I got to say that was a pretty good Ad.

I actually thought it was going to play out differently once my mind registered the message given. I thought he was smiling away at life @ the beginning than was going to show him crashing into the girl and how horrible it is to get into one of those accidents. To take another life especially a kid is a terrible ordeal I'd assume especially if a parent is nearby...I thought it was going to prove a point to all bad drivers - but they probably wouldn't air something like that. I have no idea why my mind thought that would happen. It reminded me of that Movie Crash for some reason. I think the music was in there too. Anyways this is all just one big ramble - sorry. I don't know what I was thinking.

EDIT: After seeing that other video above mine I got to say OMG ;O That was terrible.

Thanks for sharing though.

My favorite commercial is the one with the lady who says this is the last text my son ever typed. And it shows one and a half words because he ran off the road and died while texting and driving. And really it makes me laugh and the one thing that pops into my head is "OWNED!" Shit is funny.

O, and yes, I am a terrible person.

Yeah, the visuals are nice, you should see "Waltz with Bashir" if you like this animations style.

I still think this one wins
The amount of emotion and drama in this piece is staggering.

I loved that movie! Not just the style, but the story. It also had an impact on me, personally. Plus, the music was great.

That was pretty good, it had a sort of strange suspense to it that kept me intrigued which is a great quality in a commercial.

This is my favorite commercial ever, just because it's too damn funny:

It's just so unexpected.

For road safety, the most effective advert I've seen was one christmas years ago (about 10 I think) for drink driving where all it had was images and videos of real road traffic accidents with Silent Night played solo on a violin playing over the top.

It was a bit cheesy... No, really cheesy actually. But that's fine, it was good design. It makes a point in an emotional way, with good emphasis on the point it's trying to make. Decent way to make the ignorant masses aware (although with a relative collision speed of over 50km/h seatbelts only serve to keep your corpse in one piece).
Personally I didn't like it much, too much Hollywood family life melancholy. But other reactions here prove that it served its purpose, and that's all that matters in a good commercial. So good job!
I like the Belgian roadside safety advertisements. To the point, often humorous but still convincing.

Don't even get me on the speeding and drinking adverts.. they are horrifying...
What the hell?!
The one with the little girl is disgusting and the other one is incomprehensible. What utter rubbish.
They aren't horrifying, they feel stupid and vulgar and...ah screw it. Just another lazy, stupid, inefficent shock ad.

Suprisingly enough the Embrace Life one is also from the UK. Sponsored by: http://www.sussexsaferroads.gov.uk/
Someone in sussex is a very good client and that is a large complement.
I don't know man, that one is pretty horrifying and after watching it I know i'm never gonna go drink driving. The one that you showed, while very meaningful, will probably go over the heads of most of the people that watch it, so it loses a lot of it's effect where the shock and horror ones don't.

My question is which fucking idiota are still not wearing their seatbelts, I mean come on this is 2010, everyone knows you wear one or you die, must be some left though.

good add though really works.

Hmmm...sorry to say I didn't like this commercial. The idiotic grins on everyone's faces (I'm sorry, NOBODY in real life smiles like that. EVER.) had me laughing my ass off within the first few seconds, and the "oh, woe is me" expression the guy gets in the next few seconds is even funnier. The girl with the wings immediately has me wondering "what is she doing wearing something like that at her age? Did she just come from a ballet recital or something?"

I understand what the designer was trying to do, and for a lot of people, I have no doubt this would work perfectly. But for me, it doesn't. And it's not that I can't get emotionally invested in this sort of thing because the characters and story in Heavy Rain get to me immediately...it's the fact that the characters in this commercial, despite being real people, look more fake to me than the Uncanny Valley characters in Heavy Rain do.

The design was very well done, I will say, especially the camera angles, the closeups (well-timed), and the slo-mo "pieces flying through the air" bit.

Now the car-through-the-fence? THAT was awesome. My favorite bit in that one was the little girl's crying - that sounded REALLY realistic. Also note the guy's expression when he loses control of the car - is he going "oh, woe is me?" Fuck no, he's screaming in panic, just like a real human being would.

And since you asked, not married, no kids, no plans to ever change either of those.

Greatest commercial of all time as far as I'm concerned?
