Hmm...HL2, COD4, Goldeneye, or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I like the first two Metroid Primes, but the motion control really did it for me.

Perfect Dark.
If only the one on Xbox didnt suck, and had more or less the same multiplayer system.
It didn't suck, it was just nowhere near as good as the original. It was only vaguely connected to the original anyway (hell, they changed Jo Dark from believable British Agent to wisecracking half-black American merc), so if they called it something else I think everyone would have been kinder to it.

Anyway, in no real order, Bioshock, HL2, Metroid Prime, CoD4, Halo:CE.

Doom. No matter how many times I replay it, annihilating demon hordes never gets old. Also MIDI music FTW.

Halo: CE

*Puts on Flame Shield*

....and now we play the waiting game.
lolz flame baiting

ill sit back and watch while sipping on a tall glass of good 'ol OJ
Now that sounds like a good idea.

Now for the on topic: Bioshock. Had more fun with it than HL2 and COD4.

EDIT:

Mirrors Edge. Story was trying to be too many things at once, gameplay was innovative, and definitely a fresh look at the FPS genre.
Sorry to say but Mirrors Edge wasn't a FPS, in fact the game had an achievement to go through the game without shooting a gun.
Mirror's Edge is as much an FPS as Portal (which is to say within an FPS subgenre, FPP (First Person Platforming/Puzzle))

Tie between Metroid Prime 3, Halo 3, and Gears of War 2 for me.
Probably MP3; nobody can say no to Samus.

Honestly, I have to go with Red Faction 2. Other than Left 4 Dead, Red Faction 2 is the only fps I regularly play.

My New favorite would be Killzone 2.

But along with that, i'll thrown in Half life 2, Call of Duty 4,1, and Resistance 1 plus Halo 1.

O and prey :D

The Best: Resistance: Fall of Man
The Worst: Resistance 2
Irony...

CoD4 had a good campaign, but multiplayer was noob friendly unbalanced crap where every single one of my deaths were attributed to a UAV, airstrike, or chopper. it's ironic i hate it because like R2 i was one of the more dominant players but still couldn't stand playing it

Killzone 2 is crap

Bioshock is overrated

Other good ones are portal and Fallout 3

I honestly haven't seen a good or at least average fps in the last 2 years

True but I'm not sure that it can be called a true FPS it's more like a Platformer with FPS elements.
Hence the subgenre. It's a hard thing to classify genres anyway.

Say with Portal; it could be called an FPP and be in that FPS subgenre which is itself a subgenre of shooters which are themselves a subgenre of action which is itself a subgenre of personal (a game in which you directly control a person). But it's definitely a puzzle game and puzzle games are usually considered impersonal.

It's a convoluted mess, not unlike
(it just felt appropriately random)
