I'd say the intro to Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy is awesome, just cant find a good enough version of it out there thats not garbled or live.

My favorite is The Moor [http://www.last.fm/music/Opeth/_/The+Moor] by Opeth. The whole album (Still Life) is a metal opera that travels through the melancholy, rage, and longing of the exiled protagonist, and in the first track we not only get all three of these moods and his backstory, but we also get a collection of some of the best riffs on the album. Be wary, though; there's a three minute "overture" before the song proper begins.

Korn had some cool track where the singer would just go batshit crazy all the time - was that an intro? If so, it was very cool.
Unfortunately the band itself isn't.
Edit: Here I found it.

Mudvayne's album L.D.50, their best album if you ask me, opens with Monolith, which is an intro to 'Dig'; it isn't that complex a song at all, but it's just...so... good....

While not exactly my favorite band, The Hidden Hand had a clever little thing on the start of their album. Normally there's a 2 second pause before the start of a song. Their first track didn't, so when you pressed play, the song caught you with your pants down.

I know, it sounds absolutely amazing when I describe it, but I can't find an album version of the song online.

Haha, I used to say that Korn peaked with the first song on their first album: Blind. It was all downhill after that.

My personal favourites:
Incubus - Privilege (first track from Make Yourself, also first album I bought)
Blink 182 - Dumpweed (from Enema of the State. Really set the pace for the rest of the album)
RHCP - Good Time Boys (from Mother's Milk. Every time I hear this, I have to listen to the whole album)
Tegan and Sara - Time Running (from If It Was You)
Sara Bareilles - Love Song (from Little Voice. They put her only previous single as the *last* track. Ballsy.)
Zebrahead - Rescue Me (from MFZB)

And the absolute worst:
The *intro* to Joss Stone's third album. If you've heard it, you know what I'm talking about.

This one is phenomenal. "After all, music soothes even the savage beast."

The Grudge in the beginning of Lateralus by Tool is an epic beginning, you hear the sound of a machine being turned on and then sick things start happening.

Nine Inch Nails, a Downward Spiral, Mr. Self Destruct was such a great song to start with.

Hell's Bells from AC/DC's Back in Black album. Just the intro to that song gives me chills then it smashes you in the face like a sledgehammer when it drops in.

Do you even have to ask?

The slow, mysterious build of Speak to Me, climaxing with hints of The Great Gig in the Sky, opening up into Breathe and setting the stage for Dark Side of the Moon, the greatest album of all time. Any fule kno that.

That would be on the album 'Blind' by Corrosion of Conformity.

First song "These shrouded Temples...",blends into "Damned for all Time".

Amazing,gives me goosebumps.

Breaking Benjamin's Intro to Phobia...was pretty interesting...and for individual songs, the opening to "Someone Who Cares" by Three Days Grace

Indestructible by Disturbed from the album of same name. 30 seconds of warfare (Bombs, gunfire, mortar, etc.) followed by several minutes of pure audio pwnage!
