Gears of War is quite fun if you can get 4 TVs and 4 consoles all hooked up. Being in the same house as the person your chainsawing is a blast. It really is.

The Halo games are good, so is nearly any fighter game.

I personally find it hilarious to keep Dance Dance Revolution with me at a party, it's funny to watch others try and then start doing random things.

Don't know whether you can play PS1 games on a PS3 but Crash Team Racing is always a party favourite of mine and my friends.
I was gonna mention this one, but somehow slipped my mind... Still a lot of great memories from my childhood include this game. So fun!

The game which stuck with us best was Halo. Just Halo.

The physics on the warthogs gave us a wicked opportunity - flip each other out of an opposing hog and run him over before he can right it. One point!

The thing about the physics was when you collided head-on, one of you was invariably sent flying into the air, often doing a triple barrel roll and landing on your wheels. The suspension on the Hog gave a lot of tactics as if yours was lower, you'd flip them, so you use hills to your advantage. Also, they were indestructible :)

Now add between 1 and 7 other people, each with their own hog, and watch the swearing and flying commence!

I would have to say one of the greatest lan games for the cube would have to be Super Smash Brothers Melee (did i spell that right?). I just had a great time with that game with a lot of my friends. The new one is fun, but having to use the wii mote and the numchucks ruined it for me.

Can't beat Smash Brros, Wario Ware and Mario Kart in one fun booze-filled evening.
Also Halo 3 i think pretty much perfects local multiplayer, particularly with link-up, as long as you eliminate screen looking bastards.

guys! splintercell chaos theory! probaly the best system link game ever!(probaly) but it needs 4 screens and is better on the xbox. We always played halo2, a big halo 3 game would be to expensive for us.
