Best mini-game inside a game

Triple Triad was such an awesome game. It's at least as deep as a game like Yu-Gi-Oh, and it was tied only loosely to the storyline so if you're not into CCG's you don't need to play.

Pazzak was alright. It's kind of like Blackjack. In fact, it's very much like Blackjack. Pity I'm not a huge fan of Blackjack...

On the whole, though, I'm not a fan of minigames in games. Especially if I really, really like the game. Like, say, GTAIV. It really bugged me whenever someone wanted to go play darts, or pool, or bowling or whatever. Those games are tedious in reality, and painful in GTA.

That said, I am a huge fan of those smaller, simpler games when you take them outside of other games. I have a whole section on my desktop devoted to games which are only designed to hold my attention for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Stuff like Audiosurf [http://www.audio-surf.com/], Warning Forever [http://indygamer.blogspot.com/2006/12/warning-forever.html], Plasma Pong [http://www.fun-motion.com/physics-games/plasma-pong/], that sort of thing. A game I found and thoroughly enjoyed was Bubbletanks [http://armorgames.com/play/1920/bubble-tanks-2?referral=gameBubbleTanks2]; a cross between Asteroids and Space Invaders with an RPG-like upgrade system where you choose between paths. Another good one was Battleships Forever [http://www.wyrdysm.com/bfdownload.php]. The campaign was short and honestly not that involving, but I've spent a looooong time building custom ships and hurling them at one another through the editor.

Bully, classroom minigames, the art one was bullshit, but the rest were cool.
I thought that the Bike-making class was bullshit, and the rest were cool.
lol I forgot that one... yah the biking one was bullshit too.
Not least of which because it had a 20 second intro, and a margin of error of .5 of a second after that.
Yup that sounds about rite.....

Horrible memories returning...Rage increasing...

You won't like me when I'm angry.

Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII. It was a great game, it required strategy, it had it's own deep sidequest and had hundreds of cards to collect. I lost many hours trying to get that Seifer card.

Pazaak. I downloaded a flash version of it to my old computer. I don't remember the flash version well, but I think ingame one was better.

The "Ship Ho Ho Hoes" mini-game in God of War. Nah, I'm kidding. Actually, QUB3D was pretty cool. And yeah, I liked the art mini-game from Bully the most actually. :D

Blitzball easily. I managed to put together an awesome team and absolutely owned every team time and time again.
Then in X-2... *shudders*
Though that sphere break game wasn't bad.

Bowling in Tekken Tag Tournament was pretty sweet too.

I spent way too much time in Canis Canem Edit (Bully) seeing how many people I could beat without collapsing or how well I could evade the authorities.

I sort of agree except my favorite was art and some of the arcade games in it kicked ass to.

Was Assassin's Creed's combat shallow enough to count as a minigame? If so, then I suppose it would be on the list of "minigames I liked", but it's sure as hell not a mechanic for a full game.

Not really a Mini-game as such, but I normally run around FPS' shooting walls in the shapes of Schlongs/boobs. What can I say, I have the maturity of a ten year old. Infact, that's probably doing ten year olds an injustice.

Also, GW in PGR3 was pretty epic too.

Roulette in Dragon Quest VIII... I once played that for 10 hours straight, racked up a ridiculous amount of tokens.

Gummi Ships in Kingdom Hearts and its sequel.
I'd have to agree with you partly
I liked the Kingdom Heart games and the gummy ship missions were fun the first time but I never went back to get all the parts or unlock anything
Also
The loading screens in the DBZ Tenkiachi (or however you spell it) where you could rotate the sticks or mash the buttons in order to get the characters on screen to eat more or spawn more saibamen.. HA! we would have to pause before the fight actually started because our hands hurt xD
