oblivions oppening was rubbish imo. it was sooo boring to walk through those dungeons. i hated it. that's my opinion anyway.

I'm not talking about the first dungeon, I'm talking about "I was born 87 years ago..." etc., right up to the character-creation screen.

that was still boring for me. "Huray! now we can listen to some old NPC talk about his life! WOOT!"
LOL. anyway, i enjoyd the game, (not as much as fallout), but i didn't like the oppening sequence.

I admit a certain bias because Oblivion was the first game I bought for my shiny new (and still very much viable) uber-gaming PC in 2006. I'm the furthest thing in the world from a graphics whore (Simutrans. Pak64. I rest my case.) but seeing what modern hardware could do after I spent $1600? Yum. You never forget your first love, I guess...and Oblivion was my first "modern" game graphics-wise.

twewy was a half decent oppening sequence too. silent hill 2, the suffering, the getaway, also, the darkness opening sequence was great too.

I remember enjoying Mass Effects. Have not played it in some time, so I do not know why.

The best in my mind would be the opening for Half-Life 1.

i dont care much for graphics either. Any way, now i can see where your coming from.


Just remebered, i loved mirrors edge's prolouge oppening level. (not the tutorial).

i agree with the kingdom hearts 1 and 2. Not the best, but very good. I hate Roxas though...grrrr...anyway...

Without a shadow of a doubt, the opening to Dawn of War II. It is too awesome to be legal.

Hey, dawn of war (the first that is) had pretty awesome openings as well, together with its expansions. Like in dark crusade:

Bioshock(of course), I have memorized Andrew Ryan's speech.
Donkey kong 64, I have also memorized this song(although that was years ago, I only remember parts of it now.)
Call of Duty 4, I consider the boat mission to be the opening of this game, and boy was it intense!
Paper Mario 64, it blew me away as a kid, considering just how we were supposed to save the princess this time with bowser's castle way up in the sky.

That I can think of right now, my favorite opening sequences would probably be, in no particular order:
Bioshock, Conker's Bad Furday (I love that game so much), Final Fantasy XIII (I'm a sucker for pretty cutscenes) and Half-Life 2 (might have said the original Half-Life as well, but I have to admit that I've never played through it.. It's hard to get a hold of
I also really liked the start of both Mass Effect games. And, lastly, the opening of Penumbra: Overture really helps set the mood for the game.

That is pretty damn good, but the whole 40k universe is awesome.

As for my suggestion, Half Life, great build up to a fantastic game.
