Ok. So a mate of mine just bought his wife a Porsche Boxter S for her 30th birthday, and that got me thinking, what is the best present you've ever recieved or given to someone?
Was it as expensive as a new Porsche?
Was it something hand made?
Or was it something that meant a lot to you?

I cant wait to see what my mate gets me for my birthday next month. I'm not really a fan of Porsches, but i'll take one anyway.

When my mum went to Hong Kong by herself, I gave her a list of Gundam models to buy. I kept in touch with her during her holiday which she told me she couldn't find these specific models (I admit they were rather old) so my expectation were low.

When I was in college, a bunch of my best friends and I conspired to get our buddy a nice signed print of the Bogardan Hellkite artwork (his favorite Magic: the Gathering card). We all knew he'd love it -- and never see it coming. The artist, Scott M. Fischer, was really great about it, even writing our friend's name and express-shipping it to us so it would arrive in time for graduation. Needless to say, my friend was speechless; he still has the framed print hanging in his living room. Hands-down the best give I've ever given. It was a real work of love, and it's one of my proudest accomplishments.

I asked for one every year between the ages of 3 - 10, and every year my parents said no because a. they were notorious for breaking and b. who in their right minds is going to get more than 30 seconds of entertainment out of a machine for making ice-lollies? In winter???

I got an FA-78 Full Armor type. Used Citadel paints. It didn't end well.

When it comes to tangible things though, last time I was with my GF we went over to Play-N-Trade for some classic game shopping. I ended up grabbing her a copy of Yoshi's Cookie for our NES (a game she used to play as a kid and wanted to get back). She not only didn't notice the cart in the case but she also didn't notice me grabbing it, paying for it, etc. When I showed it to her she damn near cried and it was adorable!

I'm going to have to say my PS2 because it's what introduced me to gaming and still gets some play time after 8 years. It was almost trumped this year though because my friend knows someone who goes to comic con every year and she was going to get me this for my birthday

My grand mother gave me and all my siblings and my cousins money which was placed in a savings account every Christmas 3 years in a row. I gained access to that account almost 4 years ago and it's very helpful when I'm broke and I need to pay bills or buy food. I'd say this is the best present I got because it makes life so much easier.

The best gift I have given is harder. 2 years ago I gave my friend a signed picture of Rise Against which ranks pretty high on the list of the best things he have received. He's framed it in and it hangs on his wall.

Last Christmas I got my sister a signed copy of Towers of Midnight with a personal message for her written by Brandon Sanderson.

For my mom's birthday I got her a package of exclusive freshly ground coffee which is impossible to obtain where she lives. I knew what kind of coffee she wanted in terms of taste so I knew what specifications to look for. She really likes her coffee and she can't get something that suits her without mixing two blends normally.

I'm quite good with gifts.
