My personal favorite is the relationship between Revan and Bastila in KOTOR. Its almost like a tv show or movie how the sexual and romantic tension plays out in that game and depending on your decisions comes to a memorable and epic conclusion. On top of that it appears now that they had a child together too (SWTOR Comics).

What are some of the romantic plots in games that really seemed genuine and stuck with you in your mind?

Definately the one in Dragon Age between Alastair and the dog.
So very wrong, but so very sweet.

[small]Yea, okay. I may have imagined that, but play it again with that in mind. It makes the game so much better.[/small]

Gonna say Gears of War. Marcus and Dom.

Those two have more explosive chemistry than a tnt factory

Also Army of Two. Me and my friend felt gay just playing it.

Chell and the Companion cube. It's a different kind of love but one just as beautiful.

The Mass Effect subplots.

You and the Companion Cube in Portal.

Final Fantasy X. Not a fan of the game, but I just loved Tidus and Yuna's chemistry. Kind of tear jerky

Shadow of the Colossus.

Mass Effect romances.
And the relationship in The Darkness. I really liked that relationship, and was quite upset when what happened happened.

Tidus and Yuna from final fantasy X was really sweet, but I think Squall and Rinoa's romance from final fantasy VIII was better.

I dunno. I'm gonna go with CJ and Denise in GTA: San Andreas.

CJ:
Doesn't listen to her? Check
Recklessly endangers her life? Check, though she asks for it "Let's do a drive-by!"
Cheats on her? Check
Insults her? Check "I'm NOT just another hood rat, CJ!" "*sarcastically* Uh-huh"
Borrows and wrecks her car? Double check
Physically harms her, beats her, kills her? Maybe. Depends on the player.

Yep, rock solid relationship right here.

I liked the Geralts relationship with that nurse in the Witcher. It probably wasnt the best, but as far as romantic subplots in RPGs go, it was the best in a long time. What i didnt like about ME 2, was, that the ship only got into harbor right before the end. I didnt really feel like a relationship, more like an extended "hooking up". Thought Tali was cute and fun to hit on :)

My favorite pairings in Dragon Age: City Elf + Alistair, Human Mage + Morrigan, Dwarf Commoner + Leliana, and Dalish Elf + Zevran. I thought each of the subplots were well written, all of the ones I listed just make the most sense to me.

And I know I'll catch flak for it, but I LOVED Carth and the light-sided PC in KotOR. I even loved it more than all of the above romances. It was so very bittersweet and full of doubt. I'm a sucker for imperfection in characters. And also, Bastila + Canderous is my OTP. Don't judge me.

I hated basically everyone in the ME series though. :/

But for games outside of Bioware... Alyx and Gordon are totally made for each other. Alyx likes dat nerd booty.
