I've got a game of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne/Lucifer's Call on the go at the moment and I think that might be a good choice for someone looking for a turn based combat sort of game. It's quite old school and challenging.Smertnik said:Persona 4?
I played Grandia 2 and the combat system was pretty nice but way too easy. Skies of Arcadia: Legends was better, I say, reigniting the old Dreamcast RPG flame war.Onyx Oblivion said:Grandia.

Well, 3 and Extreme came and perfected the combat, at the cost of any sort of plot quality.More Fun To Compute said:I played Grandia 2 and the combat system was pretty nice but way too easy. No, it is not. You can choose real time, group based turns or individual based turns.Thealchemistofwhite said:Tactics is real time I hope you know.Tentickles said:Fallout 1, 2, Tactics
Yep, it's a damn shame but turn based gameplay went out of vogue a long time ago, these days you only see it on the odd strategy game. A real shame because I think it died before we really got to explore it's full possibilities; in fact I would say that xcom was the first and only child of a new genre, which is ironic when you consider how great it is... Just goes to show, the "money men" have been fucking up gaming for a long time now.AC10 said:I recommend X-Com... which is kind of sad when a DOS game is beating out any modern examples I can think of.
Eh don't worry. No one has said golden sun yet so im gonna say it. Golden sun.Ephraim J. Witchwood said:No mention of Fire Emblem? Wow, surprising.
There is an option in the menu to switch it to turn based.Thealchemistofwhite said:Tactics is real time I hope you know.Tentickles said:Fallout 1, 2, Tactics
