Sadly the only love story that appealed to me was from Final Fantasy 8. Every other game just kinda doesn't stack up as well to me.

it seems you can either have a convincing love story which sacrifices gameplay or storyline, or a crap one that at least doesnt get in the way
and ive thought of another bad one - drakengard 2
manah and Nowe fall in love (sorry if you couldnt see that happening and spoiled it for you) just because they are there
i would have gone for the Nowe/Eris thing - they have known each other more than five minutes, they were friends already, and had saved each others lives loads of times.

Marcus And Dom in Gears of War 1 and 2
BA DUM TISH

but seriously, all of them are shit, I mean i don't think after having shot, stabbed and gutted your way through half the population of Fantasyland then you'd feel like making out with the person next to you, especialy not the c**t support characters who either scream at you or get in your way all the time.

The Masterchief and Cortana.
I disagree, Cortana plays more of a foil role in the entire series, complementing John's brash 'Run-n-gun' nature with a more logical approach and strategy.

Also unique to the two is John's mechanization, making him seem more machine than human, while Cortana's under mechanization, at time she has more of a personality than even the Chief.

Actually, I thought one of the most believable love stories was between Yuri and Alice in Shadow Hearts (yes, i know, cricket sounds all 'round as most people don't seem to remember that game). It was well-paced, nuanced, and didn't have to hit the player in the face with a song to point out the moment the love 'blossomed'. As well, the characters actually acted like they were in love (you know, putting their own lives on the line to save the other, etc).

Worst relationship would, sadly, be the second and third installments of the Prince of Persia trilogy. First Prince/Farah was great, but the Prince/Kaileena and second Prince/Farah left a lot to be desired.

Also, I've heard rumors about a BG3...
O RLY?? *drools*

Dragon Age is supposed to be Bioware returning to their BG roots, so I'm pretty psyched about that. Especially since it's coming to the 360. I don't have a gaming PC (And can't afford one, I just got a car), but I'll still be able to play it! WOO! Every video I watch of it just makes me want it more and more.

...and more.

Not to be a dick, but 'Sands of Time' was actually the 4th one, Warrior Within being the 5th, Two Thrones being the 6th, and this new one being the 7th.

Yeah, I know what you mean, my PC makes your average pocket calculator look like a sentient supercomputer in comparison. I really ought to get a real gaming rig but they're a tad to expensive as to what I can afford at the moment.
I've heard about Dragon Age, but haven't really had the time to check it out. I'll be sure to do that whenever I get the time. Just the fact that it's made by Bioware automatically makes it good, the question is just how good it's gonna be.

Mario and Princess Peach....I think his "Mushroom Problem" is probably the reason Princess Peach never EVER actually gives him any affection or "LOVE" after he saves her 10x times

Best (in order):

Naija and Li from Aquaria.

Jackie and Jenny from The Darkness.

Last but not least: Cortana/MC.

Worst (in order):

Isaac and Jenna form Golden sun (was that really nessecary?).

Link and Zelda.

Last and worst: Mario and Peach.

I clicked the thread really fast prepared to defend the Squall/Rinoa love story, but to my surprise there isn't much hate specifically directed to FFVIII. Well that has to be my pick for best one, it was a while since I played FFVIII but it still touched me.
Sorry, but IRL a Squall/Rinoa would not last. I give them 3 months, tops.
And neither would the gunblade, I don't know which one makes me more sadface :(

My favortie is probly be Revan and whoever you liked from KoToR.

The worst would have to be any in final fantasy I have only played a few of them but they are all terrible.
I was pretty disappointed that Mission Vao wasn't a Love interest. She was one of the characters I liked best.
I'm pretty sure Mission was underage, mate.

Best would be Revan and Bastila in KotOR, quite deep.
Well by the same reasoning, I was underage when I first played KoTOR too.
And the "underage" thing largely depends on what country you're in.

Although, as I've stated before, younger-older relationships have been depicted quite well in a lot of movies, books and whatever other medium there is for stories to be told through.

Still wish there would've been a love story sub-plot with her.
Hey, I was 11 when I played KotOr, but I mean like, Mission's like, 14, I think.

Pick just about ANY Final Fantasy game. I've never cared about the love stories in those games. If anything, they completely ruin the otherwise pretty well written games.

Best? Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy... Lucas and what's-her-name, his old girlfriend. Tiffany? The way they behave like actual people who've been in love, ended up burned, dealt with it as well as they could and are finding each other again, realizing they still care for one another.

Worst? Same game, Lucas and Carla Valenti. For half of the game they don't even meet, then he dies, then he's sorta alive again, then the world ends and it's cold and this somehow makes them fall madly in love and make whoopie. Well, scratch the whoopie part if you've got the US version, but still... sheesh.

I don't know what age she really is, but yeah, I get what you're saying. Wouldn't have guessed at 14 though, she seemed a bit older, but maybe that's just because she was raised on the streets.
