Bethesda Explains What Playing Skyrim Will Be Like

People thought the lockpicking in Oblivion was difficult? No, Oblivion put a nice little cheat in there so that anyone could open any lock at any level. If that wasn't enough, they put in an item in the game that lets you open any lock. Even if you purposely made a character who had zero lockpicking ability, you could still open any lock if you knew what to look/listen for. Wow, great role-playing there guys.

There is nothing in any post-Morrowind Bethesda game that is difficult, unforgiving, punishing, or something they don't hand to you eventually. They don't believe in "locking off content" and other such tenants of "accessibility".

Skyrim on the other hand... well we'll just have to wait to see. But I can say that almost all of my complaints with deus ex won't be in Skyrim.
I hope you are that demanding if Skyrim repeats the numerous flaws of Oblivion, and ES in general, which are more numerous and much more severe than HR. One cannot crucify Deus Ex's AI and than ignore the absolutely abysmal, ugly, janky, low-interaction, AI characters of a Bethesda game. Not to mention laughable voice acting and characters sharing the same exact voice, and Dumner speaking with a British accent. Plastic looking environments and characters. No memorable characters that aren't a joke (Adoring Fan). Only decent storytelling in background lore. No intellectual, philosophical, or political concerns ie throwaway fantasy tale. Underbaked "jack-of-all-trades" gameplay mechanics

Some of those problems may or may not exist in Skyrim, but we won't know until we play the game. But these problems have been going strong since Arena, and I dont' think Bethesda all of a sudden became competent or amazing. But I'm going to bank on Deux Ex snagging a few GOTY from Skyrim
