Agreed, and I've got high hopes for this title.

Likely to steer clear of LA Noire and The Witcher 2, I imagine.
To some extent maybe. I think it is more that they were releasing it at the original date to avoid Duke Nukem and now that the Duke is delayed they are moving it up a week.

Incidentally it makes perfect sense to me that the console exclusive LA Noire and the PC exclusive Witcher 2 are coming out on the same day. Now I just wish both awesome games were not exclusives.

Aww, I was looking forward to the actual release of may 17 as it's the day before my birthday...

Oh well, at least I'll be playing it a week earlier =)

I don't see it personally - The Witcher 2 and LA Noire are much bigger heavy-hitters than DNF. I imagine its a combination of wanting to avoid them, and they genuinely have wrapped up early anyway.

And I agree, it does make good sense. I'll be buying The Witcher 2 first though I think, to show support for PC exclusives.

Does this classify as a sign of the coming Apocalypse?
Not yet.
If the game comes out early AND it's NOT completely broken, then you got your sign.

Brink, on May 10th 2012 as opposed to May 17th 2011...on May 13th 2012, moved up from the 20th 2011.
FTFY :D

It's nice to see a game come out earlier for once, when was the last time such a thing occured?

Cool, I'm hoping that Brink will become my next main FPS as I'm getting bored of BC2 so this is great news.

so they figured the game has some breaking bugs glitches and bad design choices we never saw in a video and they do this because they won't fix those anyway and hope for massive day 1 sales?

That's pleasant news! I've been watching this for several months, so I'm glad to hear this. Debating whether to get it for Xbox or PC. PC would be better graphics and control, but on Xbox, I'm connected to more friends and I've never had any unpleasant control problem with controllers so...

Or perhaps I'm just imagining that game development companies act like WWE wrestlers?
I've thought this too some days. I guess it depends on the company.

In this case I think Bethesda may have just done the time estimates properly, and given themselves more time than they needed. Which is great planning on their part. But if the game has critical issues, it could backfire on them a bit. There's quite a bit of difference between, "It's Finished!" and "We need help testing!"

A...game being released...early? I don't understand. Surely this cannot be a factual article. Games don't come out early. This must be some manner of late April Fool's joke.

as long Splash Damage didn't use any assets provided to them but Bethesda Softworks, i'm a o k with an earlier release.

Oddly enough, haven't heard much hype about this game. Strange.
