Unlike Dawnguard or Hearthfire, this looks good.

As long as you can largely opt out of the dragon riding, and it doesn't require you to have enabled shouts or random dragon spawns I'll totally get it. Assuming PS3 gets it before PS5 comes out.

All the 30 day xbox exclusivity does is give everyone else 30 extra days to see everything the new DLC has, all its bugs, and it they want it or not. I hope that sweet M$ loot is worth all the impulse buys you won't be getting. If the DLC sucks well everyone will know it weeks before they could even play it if they wanted to, and once they change their mind BEFORE making the purchase then you got nothing.

*sigh* I hope the next Elder Scrolls game, that isn't that MMO, will be the first Bethesda game I've ever played where the player isn't punished for doing the main quest by having all the most tedious, unfun, boring, and generally trollish enemies spawn all over the map.

Oblivion gates with attended npc murdering daedra everywhere after like 3 quests? Check. Enclave troops everywhere, oh and your character permadying unless you buy the DLC? Fuck you and double check. Dragons spawning every 10 minutes that take several minutes to kill, or at least to get them to actually engage you in combat instead of every bunny and NPC in a quarter mile, and so they effectively punish you and inhibit you from fast travel? Check.

Also there is literally no reason to actually do the main quests at all usually. In Oblivion all you get is the closing of the very gates that are opened by doing the main quest, and some crappy armor. In FO3 you'd be better off never leaving the Vault honestly considering how they ended it originally. In Skyrim, you get jack. Dragons still kill people, drauger still kill people, you get absolutely nothing aside from a few shouts. Even if I enjoyed shouts apart from Unrelenting Force (which should be a Destruction or Alteration spell dammit) I would still hate dragons and so Dragonrend and the summon hero shouts would be small reward for doing the questline that populates the world with dragons in the first place.

At least if you are gonna do this cliche mechanic again Bethesda, please go back to NON FLYING enemies. I'm kinda thankful that there are so few randomized encounters because of how poorly implemented the Dragons are.

You frequent some place often enough it begins to develop a peculiar weather phenomenon of raining dragon skeletons.

w/e I'll be getting it anyway. Sad to see the rumors of riding dragons is happening though. Doesn't seem to fit the lore, but maybe they'll explain it enough in game.
Disagree in terms of lore. Already happened once in the base game I'm pretty sure lol. Now they just let you do it whenever the hell you want.
It happened once, for a very specific purpose, and it only happened because there was no other way to get to where you needed to go.

That, to my mind at least, is a far cry from dragons just letting you ride them wherever. Like I said, maybe they'll explain why it's ok now, but I'm skeptical.

Well to be fair they never do say why you are rescuing him. Maybe it'll be like the summon dragon shout, in that it becomes an unlikely reward after some quest or something, but ya up to Bethesda to explain it I guess.

I have to agree with the people who think the narration isn't provided by von Sydow. I've seen enough Bergman in my time to recognise his particular timbre.

That aside, looks snazzy.

Is this just an Island just off Morrowind? Or are we actually going to be able to go to part of the main land? (obviously not all of it) either way, this looks awesome, can't wait.

EDIT: Is that an Ascended Sleeper at 1:00?!?!
They all should have vanished with the death of Ur. My guess is we are seeing the leaders of the Deep Elves. They had a Cthulu thing going.

Hence my confusion. If the rumors about Hermaeus Mora being involved in the story are true it'd make sense that some enemies look like that. Here's hoping they took design inspiration from Morrowind enemies!

I'm not sure how I feel about dragon mounts. I kind of preferred them as characters, and not just another monster class.

sorry to disappoint you but it's not going to happen due to an option the player has in the game.

After getting slated ALL YEAR ROUND for having an Xbox and not a PS3 or an awesome PC... Can't help but feel smug in knowing that I'll get to play this before all the people who told me that I made the wrong choice when it came to gaming.

Anyway, Morrowind was the best Elderscrolls game by far and Bloodmoon the best expansion. Can't wait to revisit Solsthiem, I feel the nostalgia will be too much.

I know this is an entirely different universe but I was squeeling when I saw the "Mind-Flayer"

Especially since my Dunmer is basicly just Drizzt Do'Urden with more scars.

Who was the first Dragonborn? Tiber Septim was one, but I doubt he was the first.
St Alessia maybe?
I don't know, I bet SajuukKhar would though.
You mean the wiki-page he spends the daytime reading?

My guess is some of the first who could use the Thu'um were WAY back in the day of Dragons while weren't actually Dragonborn but could basicly do everything the Dovahkiin can, but I think TECHNICALLY the first Dragonborn had to be St. Alessia since she was the first to light the Dragon-Fires and establish a first empire.

So, Dovakin vs Dovakin.

Knowing combat in TES games all I can think of is: "LET THE ANTI-CLIMATIC SWORD-SLAPFIGHT BEGIN!"

I don't think people gave this DLC enough credit...

EDIT: At least that opening sequence and converstion. People really don't know how to make this game fun for them.

...

My fond wish would be to play a dragon, rather than ride one. Argonians and the other less-human races are fun, but still way too human for my liking. And the dragons look so cool.

Still and all, I've enjoyed Skyrim, so I'll definitely be looking to getting this.

Having just played through the throat of the world again and read all the tablets on the way up I think St. Alessia is the first dragonborn because it says Akatosh takes pity upon her and bestows the Dragon-Blood.

Keep in mind the Thu'um is different from being Dragonborn, all Nords have the potential to learn some of the Thu'um (in fact in some of the morrowind books it describes how Nord armies use 'Throats' as battering rams to cave in city gates). But the Dragonborn can do so instinctively without the years of study and practice. He can also, y'know, eat dragons souls.

Yeah...
What I said.

But yeah, I can't think of a logical answer other than the Saint, but this antagonist is appearently male. Color me interested. As hell.

You know, I'm glad the 360 version is getting this content first. I mean they need all the help they can get, poor wretches stuck with the worst system of the three. Not to mention that they have to pay for their online and use those shitty controllers.

It's obvious this exclusive early release deal is the only way they could persuade fans that their 360 isn't just a worthless, dated, hunk of shit.

So, it was an anti-climatic MAGICAL slapfight rather than an anti-climatic sword-slapfight.
Amazing. Truly an epic battle the bards will sing of for a thousand years or more.

Well the guy was playing on master and like he said it was easy for him so he stuck with one spell, I was talking about the scripted sequence with the explosion and the dialogue leading up to it.

But yeah, that guy was pretty damn boring.
