Haha that was awesome I can just picture it too...Thanatus1992 said:I was hoping for a collectors edition with a statuette, but I just don't feel comfortable laying down £130 for it.
Edit: I'm going Gollum over this thing.
We wants it so much
No, we can'ts afford it
If we trades in Bayonetta and some others we can affords it
We still likes Bayonetta, and we is unemployed
There are months to go, we may be employed then, but we musts preorder now!
It basically continues like this.
Nah, the Deus Ex CE is £90. The one that includes the figure anyway. Still £40 cheaper than this though!Ian Caronia said:Ha! This is pretty much me to a T also. I have Skyrim pre-ordered, and I was hoping to switch it over to the CE, but $150? Have the execs at Bethesda gone insane? I mean, it has literally everything I would want from a CE: Making-Of DVD, Huge artbook, and a MOTHER FUCKING INCREDIBLE DRAGON STATUE (plus pre-order map)...Thanatus1992 said:I was hoping for a collectors edition with a statuette, but I just don't feel comfortable laying down £130 for it.

But I can't afford that even if it came with a real dragon egg. I mean, who can? Who the hell has $150 to throw at a game these days?
Atlus's "Catherine" special (and limited also) edition was $80
Deus Ex Human Revolution special edition (not as severely limited I don't think) is $70
Think Dark Souls is about $70-$80 too
See the trend, Bethesda Execs? Look, we are drooling uncontrollably here over Skyrim and we really want to get that CE. But the price is too damn high. How about you guys make a different Collector's Edition that excludes the Dragon statue (it hurts me to even type that) and sell that edition for less. ...MUCH less. You'd be able to since nothing else in that CE justifies such a high price tag except for the cost of making that statue.
So, second $80 Skyrim Collector's Edition with 200pg Artbook and Making-Of DVD? Please?
...Seriously. Look at the economy. You really think even the most die hard fans are willing to lose their home for that statue. It's sexy. It's "Curvy and cute bikini model on the beach waiting for you to put lotion on her thighs" sexy. But it's not $150 sexy.
Wait, there's an edition that comes with a figure? Sweet. I was talking about the Augmented Edition (the one without the figure, apparently). But yeah, even so, Bethesda's Execs must be trolling...or insaneAkihiko said:Nah, the Deus Ex CE is £90. The one that includes the figure anyway. Actually Dark Souls collector's edition is free with preorder. It's a manual, an artbook, a soundtrack, a making of DVD, and a metal case, all for the normal $60.Ian Caronia said:Think Dark Souls is about $70-$80 too
Amazon.com. The US site for me. It's listed under "Dark Souls collector's edition".Captain Placeholder said:Question, where can I find that Preorder? I can't find it anywhere.
The Dark Souls guide is a download, rather than being a book. Atleast it is in Europe. I still agree though, even that as a download, you've still got the artbook and soundtrack, for free.Liudeius said:No interest whatsoever.
The map is free with a preorder anyway.
The art book is nice and all, but Dark Souls is giving away a free hardbound guide and artbook with preorder. The guide might not be as nice (I don't know what the Demon's Souls book looked like), but it certainly requires more work from the company to develop. This leads me to conclude that, based on other market forces, the art book is of low or no significant value. Let's say $10, it's hard bound and they have to pay shipping, but they had already drawn all of the concept art so other than a small payment to the one who puts it together, it's pure profit.
The making of DVD is something I would be interested in, I remember the days when this was handed out as a free bonus as well (it is with Dark souls, and a soundtrack). I doubt it will have much more information than any true Skyrim nerd would have already/will find out. It would be generous to say $10 since you can get most or all of the information it will contain on the internet anyways. $5.
And a statue. Even if you do want a dragon and aren't tired of big, useless objects coming with your collectors editions, this is PLASTIC. They value a plastic dragon at $75. No thanks. At that price it better be pure metal and hand detailed with copious gold leaf. But this is a trinket which might, MIGHT be worth $15, and that's only if you are willing to accept regretting buying it in the first place and wasting space in some closet because it's plastic, cheap, and ugly.
Now if this came with all of the DLC included as some special editions are, I would be interested. Unfortunately, no.

Also it's the only game I ever have preordered and expect I ever will.

these 2 sum up my thoughts pretty much dead on. i would have expected something better in general to be honest, but charging that much too? too rich for my blood, i'll just get the regular version of the game... and a map.coldalarm said:For that price, they could have at least bundled some exclusive weapons/armour and a soundtrack in. You don't get a lot for your money.
