I was just wondering, what is the most game ruining bug you have ever experienced?

For me, it was F.E.A.R. 2 last week. It was pathetic, there is a bug which automatically closes doors you need to get through. One week later, I still can't finish the game.

Now, it's your turn.

Edit, anyone know a way around my glitch?

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor, before the last patch, would somteimes delete people's System Files folder when they tried to uninstall it.

I had the misfortune of being one of those people.

There's a bug in Fallout 3 where the physics engine gets confused, and a ragdoll starts spazzing out and flying all over the place with its limbs flying in all directions. Apparently they can kill you if they hit you.

Edit: Here's what I'm talking about.

GTA Vice City: Saving at Cherry Poppers. It ruins the save data apparently.

You just have to erase your saves and start over from the beginning. Thankfully I heard about this before I got the game. I would've been furious if that happened to me.

GTA San Andreas could be just as annoying if you saved with the riot cheat active but I never cheat & save either.

I once fell through the floor in the Balmora Mage's Guild in Morrowind. I flew through the blue-ish nothingness for a moment and then dropped dead when I hit.. well, nothing. Was not fun.

Crackdown: While trying to drive the Agency SUV up a ramp truck, more often than not you'd glitch through whatever surface you were on, and if that happened to be the ground rather than a bridge, you'd quickly lose sight of the map.

Also, of course, all the various bugs in all FPS games that let you glitch through the floor and kill people with no chance to retaliate. That's just a pain in the butt.

Dark cloud 2/ Dark chronicle.
This might have been a disk issue, but my cutscenes screw up, leaving half the page with the screen before, another bit with the actual content, and the other with random colours.
Worst of all, the credits freeze. Even though it wasnt very exciting, i didnt know about youtube at the time, and i couldnt see if there was an after credits clip.

Absolutely hate that. Especially when you kill something with a laser or something. Skeletons (in my personal exp) tend to ragdoll glitch the most...

Action 54. I'm sorry, but is it physically possible to fail that hard?

Well, I guess I haven't experienced it personally...

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. There's a door that's barred at the end of the game. To get through it, you move the bar then go through the door. Easy, right? Wrong. The bar doesn't move. Troika (the developer) released 2 patches to fix the problem (failing both times), then went out of business. Finally, 5 years after the game was released, some fans made a patch to fix the problem. I bought it when it came out in 2004 and finally was able to beat it a couple weeks ago.

Assasins Creed. The bug wasn't game ruining as it only happened a few times. I went in to Damascus and everything (including the buildings) looked like they were made of sand, about 200 people were bunched together in a crowd and after walking a few steps I fell through the floor in to a blue netherworld. I was quite confused to say the least.

In one of the Legacy of Kain games if you scared some ravens you couldn't open a door.

I spent 45 minutes on that door... then read in an FAQ that I'd have to load an earlier save and avoid scaring the birds...

1. Don't scare ravens outside of dungeon
2. Re-complete 45+min dungeon
3. Open the f*&%#%ing door

All that Gears of War 2 crap. Invisible shields, unlimited Lancer ammo, chainsawing people with a grenade, melee attacking a wall and inexplicably knocking down a dude ten feet away...

And the list goes on. Not fun to be on the receiving end of, that's for sure.

For me it would be the mission in Prey when there is the crashed plane.
It loaded in for a few seconds, and then dissapeared letting me walk around freely!
I did only last a few seconds, and then the game crashed.

Yahtzee once said that releasing a bug-ridden game in the 'cartridge 'n' cassette era' wouldn't fly. Apparently if you've got a big enough license and a tight enough deadline... it does.

Transformers: Mystery of Convoy, released for the NES in Japan in 1986. Somebody hit the wrong key when coding the end of level 4 because going through the exit takes you to the start of... level 4. I think the only way to see levels 5 and 6 (and someone must have done it- there are screenshots on the back of the packaging) was to get a cracked copy with a level selector at the start. Not much chance of patches back then.
