The death of Battlefront 3. I remember looking up info on it every day after that alpha footage got leaked. Unfortunately, Free Radical got canned and the game got shot so far into development hell that after at least a year of anticipation I just gave up hope. It doesn't help that I recently heard that LucasArts may have deliberately went out of their way to make sure this game didn't see the light of day.

EDIT: I was pretty disappointed in BF3 as well. BF1943 (the console only game with only three regular maps and one planes-only map) was my first BF game and I loved it. BF3 and BC2 were absolutely nothing like that game, being far more corridor-ish and losing that incredible sense of freedom and improvisation that made me love 1943 so much.

Persona 4. It's still a good game, but it tried to mess with P3's battle-system, and, I've said this before, P3's battle system was a massive dick to you and the enemy. In P4, though, with the whole Down>Dizzy thing, instead of P3 missing the first-step, enemies get a major advantage.

And 40% of the time, I found myself really underleveled. I spent an entire in-game-week leveling, and I still had bloody trouble. Did really like the story, setting, and, oh god.. the music.. (foaming from mouth with unhinged glee)

Quest For Glory 3

There's me, a little youngster, I just finished Quest for Glory 1&2 on my old family DOS. I get a used copy of 3. Yah I say, only to realise, it's... well, shit. Annoying characters - I didn't like the Tarnans, the Simbani, or the Leopard men - the only characters I liked were the non-factioned characters, and even then, they don't appear to much, and it was way too text/dialouge based. How boring.
Again, not bad, but not good compared to prequels.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon.

I was promised a huge crossover of characters from all MK games to date and customization tools that let me create my own character. What I got was all the characters changed so that they all play the same but with different powers (they even changed the design of Motaro so that it would be another bipedal male), the customization tools were pretty precarious (the only non-cosmetic options were to copy the fighting pose from a character and the powers from another), and NO FATALITIES, being substituted by a simple combo system that worked the same for every character.

When I brought home a new game and was unable to play it because it had a "scratch". Seriously not buying games from Big W anymore, I risk it with expensive prices at Game.

Getting StarCraft 1, er I mean, 2.

;)

To be fair, I was never into the competitive MP for SC1.

At least Red Alert 3 tried to push coop MP and allowed you to SHOOT BEARS OUT OF A CANNON AND PARACHUTE INTO THE ENEMY BASE.
Oh geez I forgot about Red Alert 3. So in the story if Einstein was the one to go back in time to kill Hitler after world war 2 and made the soviet union a super power....how does killing Einstein in 1918 or so allow the soviet union to get stronger..... It made no sense!
Red Alert hasn't made sense since Kane appeared in the 2nd or 3rd Soviet mission briefing in RA1

OT: Mass Effect 2 - I walk into the gamestop intending to grab a copy of Alpha Protocol. I grab a used case and walk up to the counter. Gamestop douche (customer not employee oddly enough) "That game was weak if you really want a good RPG grab MA2". I follow his advice and get talked out of one of the best shooter rpgs in this generation and get stuck with Gears of War you can talk to people but get the same outcomes all the time Edition.

I'd go into detail about C&C4 but its just to easy

Mass Effect 3.

Yes. I'm still bitter because EAWare are in denial about how shit the ending (singular) is.

Two Worlds 2

How did you go from the unintentional hilarity and the wide open massive and varied world from the first game to that?

And the whole top continent being locked out...*shudders with rage*

Well that was because the original idea behind the game was that Einstein going back in time created the Red Alert timeline and that timeline created the Tiberium one.

The first Tiberium game was set in an alternate present because of that (well "present" for 1995).

Anyway I think that was removed from cannon....somewhere.... and Red Alert because its own timeline. (this confusing mess is what happens when time travel get involved!)

The fact that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 is a direct sequel to Force Unleashed. The light side ending, which has to be the canon ending, was pretty good! It was its own self-contained story. It answered the unasked question about the origins of The Rebel Alliance. I felt as though the fact that FU2 exists is a mockery of the original game and a huge missed opportunity to explore lesser known Sith Lords/ Jedi Knights.

Dragon Age 2. I loved Origins and was looking forward to the sequel. Then I played it...the thing was marketed as an epic RPG and while the story was there (in a lesser capacity than Origins or even Awakening). The game that was delivered however felt like a hack-n-slash or, beat-em-up with RPG elements and less likable characters...and fewer locales. Also (I mentioned this when I bitched about Mass Effect 2...at some point) I hate how everyone suddenly learns the words 'shit' and 'fuck'. It just seems kind of juvenile to me when sequels force in the 4-letter words to harden the M rating. It worked in Max Payne 2 but in the Bioware games it just seemed unnecessary. These are the same people who let you talk Saren into shooting himself: they didn't need those shitty, fucking words!

ME3, SC2, DA2 & Spore.

Spore was about 1/100th as deep an experience as advertised.

ME3's ending was an affront to God (regardless of whether or not he exists).

DA2's ending didn't even fucking *try*.

And SC2... boy howdy. 1/3 the content of the previous titles, the plot's been more or less completely fucked- and the main villain is a big evil black *thing* that sounds & acts remarkably like space Satan.

I was personally disappointed by GTA4, it didn't have the same quirky feel and it really lowered the humor which for me always characterized the series. I understand they attempted to grow up but for me it guaranteed that I won't buy GTA5 without seeing it in action first

Speaking as a former Gamestop employee, I assure you that for every rare douchebag employee you might meet, there are 100 douchebag customers.

But that's ok, the good ones make up for it. ;)

Black & White. What a horrible game. I picked it up, found out it was localized, tried to play it, lost my sanity due to the horrifyingly bad localized voice acting, and returned it the next day.

Brink, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, every Call of Duty game after Modern Warfare 2, every World of Warcraft expansion after Burning Crusade, Dante's Inferno

I'll have to look back at my library.

It's been said already, but Dragon Age 2 at it's release was a huge let down. However, I recently have gone back to play it, and didn't find it nearly as offensive (minus the repeating areas and formulaic approach to companions).

Chrono Cross's battle system and lack of being an actual sequel. I wanted a sequel to CT, what are you giving me? A horrific spell-equip system and no characters from the first game.

Mindjack. There's a game about brain hacking and it sucks? Ugh. I want a game about Ghost in the Shell style mind hacking... ><

Spore. It was supposed to be the GAME TO END ALL GAMES. Then EA murdered it and turned it into Baby's First Genre Introduction.

Ah yes, another one of Molineux's famous "MY GAMES LET YOU DO EVERYTHING" crapfests. It astonishes how some people still listen to this guy, who has long since spent all of his well-deserved cred for his earlier work.

I'm easy to please, but Operation Racoon City. Seriously, it could have been awesome, it could have been soldiers VS zombies and make everyone's dreams come true. Still feel hurt by that one.
