Co-Op would ruin the atmosphere unless it was amazingly well done like one player is a little sister assistant.

Seems like it is made for it, you play as a Big Daddy with a Little Sister don't you? Though I guess it wouldn't be fun to play as Little Sister.
Not exactly, let me explain what the magazine says.

You play as the first, prototype big daddy. Your a rogue unit, a renegade. The Cliche "out of control superior non-mass produced" model. The Big Sister in the game is one of the little sisters that escaped with Tenenbaum at the end of the last game. This little sister has gone all crazy and decided she wants to ressurect Rapture as it was, and has begun kidnapping little girls to make little sisters. The game takes place 10 years after the original, finally recovered from the chaos the sudden Adam shortage brought about when you removed the little sisters and Fontaine/Ryan in the first game. You aren't as big as other big daddies but still pretty strong, and you have Plasmids. Plasmids will be upgradible and combinable. You play a big daddy now which removes some of the vulnerability, but you still have to fight other big daddies to steal their little sisters (and either adopt or sacrifice them). Sacrifice is like it was in the first game, adopting them creates another 'opt-in' boss fight sequence, where you meander around with the little sister on your shoulder, letting her down to harvest Adam from corpses. When this happens Splicers will swarm to attack the little sister, and you have to defend her. When she's done you get part of the Adam she harvested. Meanwhile there's also the Big Sister, who rules Rapture with an Iron Fist and stalks you kind of like Predator. There's going to be an ire meter in the game, and the more you disrupt Big Sister's order the angrier she gets. Cross a line and she'll hunt you and attack you, and by all accounts she is -bad ass- and wicked powerful, sort of like running into Evil Parasite Samus in Metroid Prime: Fusion. Your best bet is to fight and run because you can't really beat her head on- she has incredible powers from sucking adam directly into her blood stream from the giant needle on her arm, as well as a little sisters nigh invulnerablity- rememebr in the original there was a radio clip which mentioned little sisters regenerated almost any tissue damage immediatly."

You also get to use Big Daddy exsclusive weapons, like a Rosies rivet gun, because your much bigger and stronger. An example of power combining they gave was using Incinerate on Cyclone trap to create flaming tornado's. Fwoosh!
You said Rapture was fully recovered from the ADAM shortage? Wouldn't this cause the splicers to die out or go through a "detox" sort of stage?
It's a little confusing. The game takes place 10 years after the first, so the Splicers survived basically by fighting over what little ADAM remained until Big Sister brought the little sisters back. The dev's said Rapture definatly got alot of worse, but somehow, somehow managed to survive. Chalk it up to a suspension of disbelief.

Bioshock 2 is going to fail anyway. Does anyone else think that you should most certainly NOT play as a Big Daddy? Co-op probably would have made the game even worse than it already sounds. There's still time to fix it 2K. PLEASE!

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to play as a Big Daddy.

Playing as a Big Daddy failed last time. The escort mission was stupid, and also made no sense. "Without the sea slug, they're just as vulnerable as any other little girl!" advises Tenenbaum. Yes...a little girl that can take bullets to the head whilst she sings...
Plus, did anybody else think the Big Daddy effect was ruined last time by the fact that, evene though you had the helmet on:

1. You couldn't use Big Daddy Weapons.

2. You can still use your own weaponry and plasmids, despite Big Daddies having huge gloves.

3. You somehow turn back into a regular person for the final boss fight.

4. You can quite clearly see your damn sweater sleeve holding your gun!

If these errors are fixed, then playing a Big Daddy might work, cliché story and all. If not...it'll just be another sequel, and will fade into obscurity.

Aw. That's disappointing. So the multiplayer aspect is going to be mindless shooting?

Still, I guess it'll be funny to shoot a load of bees at your friends.

I hope that answers your questions.

That does look a lot better. I was merely saying that it was badly-handled in the original.

Definatly not the co-op type of game. If it did have co-op it might be like co-op in Fable 2. But it doesn't need co-op.

I'm actually happy that this game won't have co-op. I think that it would ruin the experience.

Single player is bioshock's legacy huh? But isn't Bioshock the spiritual successor to System Shock? And The most fun I ever had with that was in SS2 playing a 3 player co-op game for a whole weekend. I think co-op is in the blood of shock so saying that it isn't is forgetting its roots.
It's good that you had fun with it, but keep in mind that System Shock 2 multiplayer was a tacked-on patch put out to assuage fans who had to have multiplayer in everything, and while it may be fun to run around tearing up the Von Braun with two or three friends the "real" System Shock 2 experience - the one the game is designed for, the story is written for, etc. - is borne out of the experience of being unique and alone in a hostile alien environment.

From that perspective, BioShock is exactly the same thing and the addition of any sort of multiplayer, cooperative or competitive, is simply wasteful.

I think Multiplayer in BioShock 2 is rediculous too.

I mean, seriously? Do we need multiplayer ine everything? I never even use it. I shouldn't have to pay for XBL to enjoy your game. One of the reasons Halo 3 didn't fly with me.

That's odd, I didn't even think of co-op in Bioshock 2, even though it's the usually one of the first things I want to check about a game.
It's a shame it's not gonna be in the game, would've been sweet playing it with a friend.

co-op would be cool if you literally needed your friend to take down splicers, say you melee a splicer, they will take a little damage, but if your friend comes in, he can run past and bash him in the face, something you wouldn't be able to do on your own because you can't swing fast enough, ect

although thats more melee oriented, maybe a big daddy killing moved up to big game hunting, where one has to rope the legs while the other gets in close and smash's in the helmet, something like that, i'm just rambling now

And the horror was one of the most important parts of Bioshock.

I gotta say, I'm not exactly sad about this. With co-op, it loses a lot of the fear and atmosphere that was so awesome in the first one.

Still, the way he said "A Big Daddy or two" is a bit ominous. I would hope we'd see plenty!

Does your magazine make any mention of this Big Sister stuff we've been hearing so much about?
agreed!

Co op was not missing from BS..... polishing, items, inventory, weapon mods, equipment ,ect, ect, ect and finishing production of the GDdamn game were missing from BS.....

I don't mind randomly loading maps/areas for DM style play that's fun, Co op is fun as well whats not needed is them trying to make rush and put 10 different MP styles of play into a all games.

All you need at the most is CTF,DM and Co op nothing more nothing complicated...... oh and having a refined, feature rich and polished SP experience is a must....(FYI BS did not have this....)
