Well technically when he was riding on the rail he used a pipe wrench not a gun.

Come to think of it, didn't you sneak on board to rescue a princess?
Yep, it's the woman (Elizabeth) you see in the gameplay and the announcement trailer that you're there to rescue. As to why, no idea yet myself... Not sure if she's a princess or anything, though she must be someone of some import to go to all this bother for.
I think I remember them saying she was very powerfull (probably early plasmid powerfull) and she probably is the thing holding up the city.

Bioshock 2 was not a bad video game. It wasn't perfect, and it wasn't as engaging as Bioshock 1 becasue it Rapture no longer had the novelty factor but it still had some nice environments and lots of little gameplay improvements over the first one. Yeah, defending little sisters got tedious after a while but that wasn't even necessary to finish the game.

By the way, I hate how GameTrailers spliced the gameplay footage into the prerendered trailer that's been out for a month. Why would you do that?

Simmer down, it was a joke.

I rented Bioshock 2 for a few days and found it enjoyable enough. I'm just the type that one go in Rapture was enough. Hell, I think I only played the first game through to the end once or twice. That is why I'm glad to see Biohsock Infinite be completely different.

Looks great, if it can match the first game with all the elements and expand on it, I'm sold.

A floating city looks way more awesome than an underwater city.

Maybe this might renew my interest in Bioshock :).

Cool! Looks as if it might be a very good game.

I was mildly amused to see them leap from 'the guys who did Bioshock!' to 'next up: Bioshock Infinite!' with not even a split second's mention of Bioshock 2.
Why would they mention it? Irrational didn't develop it. They did move on from Bioshock to Bioshock Infinite.

It's still part of the series - or the canon, if you'd rather, tho given that huge cannon in the trailer I can't help but feel that's slightly a pun. Not mentioning it adds weight to the perception - unjustified or not - that Bio 2 was a failure. OK, you could argue that they didn't have to mention it, but it would have been good policy.

It almost looks as though you're playing through the downfall of Columbia, much like many people wanted for Rapture.

Cool.
Is that a prediction of the games end?

Seems cool, hopefully the combat will be less generic with the gadgets you have. The story should hopefully be up to par with bioshock 1's.
I am kind of hoping, in a sick and twisted sort of way, that we end up watching Columbia fall from the heavens. Only because a cutscene like that has massive potential to be awesome.

EDIT

Levine's team had absolutely nothing to do with 2, though, so it wouldn't make much sense at all to plug the second one in this. How would they mention it, anyways?

And features braindead AI where you splat one guy rounding a corner and 5 seconds later his friend does exactly the same.

I'm actually kinda glad that they have taken more to the action side of things this time. Was starting to get bored of the horror setting of Rapture, so this could be a nice change of pace for Bioshock. :)

I am kind of sad that the 'creepy' part is gone. You can't have 'creepy' in daylight. You just can't.
Some of the Silent Hill games had levels in daylight, and they were pretty unnerving to me. It can be done, it's just that you need a lot of fog and that abandoned feel, which may prove tricky to use on a city in the sky.

It looks fun, and good that they decided to abandon Rapture in the 3rd game. Not that I hate it, but I think it's used up by now.

Even a Big Sister screenshot would have done it.

Remember, this is as much advert as teaser. Adverts are about managing perceptions, not necessarily reflecting reality. It's going to find its way out into the wide world, where most potential customers aren't going to make subtle distinctions. They know Bioshock did really well; they know there was a Bioshock 2, yet it doesn't get a mention. Ergo there must be something wrong. It's unfair, because as you rightly state it's nothing to do with Levine's team. But its how things sometimes go.

YEEEEEAAH

Other than that, the game looks ok, not so creepy as the original Bioshock, which I like.

Hmmmm but the best thing about Bioshock was its surrealist atmosphere, soundtrack, storyline and predominantly slow-burn gameplay. (Probably the worst parts of it were where it deviated from this - the "Escort Mission" near the end and the submarine ambush in the smugglers' tunnels come to mind). This trailer looks FAR too overdone for my tastes, like they're going for all-out shooter mayhem. Not sure about that decision myself.

So there's going to be a lot of bashing people over railings so they fall to their doom?
Sweet.

Still interested in what the chick's gonna be about. Hopefully more interesting than "she give you power ups".
