Bioshock: Infinite unveiled!

Wait, so they just changed it from a creepy underwater fallen paradise to a sunny, real paradise in the sky? That's a terrible idea! What happens if someone just pops the balloons or stops the fans? Wouldn't that just end the entire game? And And how could it possibly be nearly as atmospheric? This is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. I guess I actually have to wait to judge it for real but still, the premise is horrible. The only possible way they could make it work is if the floating is powered by ADAM.

HOLY GOD! That looks amazing! In the air... That sounds really cool actually! It looks like the government found out about rapture and decided "We can do that!" so they built it in the sky. Except its not like rapture, because the american flag is everywhere, making it a police state, rather than the freedom of everything place of happy sunshine that was rapture.

Plus it looks ALOT more steam punk, which is always a plus.

Not sure if I agree with Comlumbia falling into the ocean to make Rapture. The story goes that Ryan made Rapture to escape what he saw as an increasingly oppressive America. Ryan would still be a child in this game, not to mention the city is clearly over land (not that that really matters I guess...)

My only hope is that they decide to take the narrative in an interesting direction.

A link earlier to an interview said that the city was moving around, spreading American Patrioticism and whatnot.

I think the girl is Elizabeth, who is also mentioned in the interview linked on the first page, I think this cause well, she's in a tower, she gets pulled back in, and she also seems to be telekenetic, through the use of plasmids, or maybe this girl is where they got the plasmids from ?

This is going to be so awesome, i like what was said in that interview that was posted and how they're trying to make things fresh. Definatly keeping my eyes on this game! Brilliant trailer... just wow.

In the museum they talk about how rapture started as a "foundation" platform, sunk to the bottom of the ocean to bridge over a chasm (the one with all the mysterious light coming from it) and be the base for rapture.

And you don't think that platform might be a reference to the Columbia?

I mean, something flying that high up in the sky would make a hell of a crash landing.

Not the way they illustrated the platform. It wasn't a crashing piece of wreckage.
And besides, Columbia wasn't designed for the pressure differential of the ocean depths.
The psi of the ocean bottom is MASSIVE, many, many times that of whats needed for a flying city.

My one problem, if any, is that video took SOOO long to load. Loving the concept though, and i imagine they'll explain the "it's floating yet no-one can see it" malarky.

Maybe everyone on the ground is incredibly thick. =-P

It's a common refrain in stealth and puzzle games that "Nobody will ever look up".

looks good, I just love the girls face when hes being supsended in midair with the roses, she just goes "Oh crap!" classic. Now I want this.

EDIT: Anyonelse getting the idea that its a woman dominated society? Mabye thats just me but that the idea it gave me.

loved the 1st two bioshock games but i have 2 problems with this one
1st where is rapture. bioshock isn't bioshock without rapture like wtf
2nd whats up with all the all the american flags the first two bioshock they were sperate from all countries and any government now we have america plastered over everything, also getting a bad vibe form that girl in the trailer.

i think they shouldn't have the bio in the name.

It actually looks like they're producing some fog around the buildings, so they probably look like clouds from below.

Now, I'll admit it took me a sec to wrap my head around this idea as well, but then I realized this was all steam punk (the second game was actually diesel punk).

When ever you have a genre in the [insert name] punk fields, the main theme is always going to be the over exaggeration of a known technology to the point it delves into fantasy.

Although only a pre-rendered teaser, it looks absolutely beautiful and I'm really looking forward to it. It's nice to see that the Bioshock series is moving away from Rapture. It makes the universe that the games exist in become more alive and three dimensional which can only be a good thing.

The first Bioshock game was in the 1940's.
This plays out in 1914.

So it's rather the opposite... or maybe it's the same thing!

I loaned my copy of bioshock 2 away and then my friend lost the game. Awesome. Now I need to figure out another way to replay bioshock 2.

Another thing I noticed in the trailer was the switch from metal, to stone. Everything everywhere in rapture was cold, and uninviting. This however, looks very bright and friendly. A welcome change indeed.

However, I'm calling it now, A major villain in this game will be voiced by the general (I don't remember the name) from Fallout 3, what with the heavy southern upper class accent.

I just watched the trailer three more times. So pumped!
