Ok, I'm hearing good things, but now, I have to bring up some more questions. xD
Umm...

1)To the person who said for Nvidia drivers being finnicky, how finnicky are we talking here..Can You Run It? is saying I pass the specs with flying colours...but it has lied to me before (it said the same for the Witcher, but the cutscenes lag terribly, and the lag and jumps in gameplay really break the immersion experience?
2)Is 10-15 hours really that much of a gameplay experience...it may just be me, but I'm used to playing RPGs where I can get tons of hours out of the game, and I'm trying to find a new one (because of the witcher's faults), but now I'm just looking for quality titles because I may or may not be getting Fallout 3:GOTY and/or DA:O for Xmas

it's DEFINITELY worth 20 bucks

there are very few games not worth 20 bucks. especially AAA titles like Bioshock.

I would say that chances are yeah its worth it. However, I will never buy it because I found the game boring.

Let me put it this way. It was more than worth it's original market price, so $20 is a freakin' steal.

YESSS! It's by far one of the best games I've ever played. I played through it twice in a week if that tells you how good it was. It's an RPG, it just contains many FPS elements. Can't tell you if it has achievements for the PC, but it's definitely worth 20$+

i meant to respond to that guys post, but ill quote yours instead. ive used nothing but nvidia cards for the past 4 years and ive never had a problem with bioshock and nvidias drivers. historically speaking ati's drivers have been far worse than nvidias have been, so if you have driver issues your more likely to have them with ati than nvidia. but in any case, as i said ive never had a problem with them. of course everybodys computer is different. there IS a demo available though so try that out.

in any case, bioshock is an fps/rpg, but really the rpg elements are pretty laughable. if you want an fps with REALLY deep rpg elements look into games like deus ex or stalker. for bioshock though, its story FAR surpasses 99% of games out there (including most rpgs), the gameplay is good (nothing to write home about, but quite solid), and the world really does come alive like in few other games. as everyones said, for $20 you could do a hell of a lot worse.

and finally, only games for windows LIVE games support achievements. if a game has the games for windows banner that does NOT mean it uses LIVE, so check the box or theres a list on wikipedia of which ones do. bioshock is not one of them, it is only branded with the games for windows banner.

I don't understand your "value of a dollar" question, because you can get KOTOR for 9.99 or the Fallout Trilogy Collection for 9.99, which will last you 200 hours depending on the type of player you are...

But I think Bioshock is worth 20 dollars, yes. Definitely.

I wouldn't say it's exactly replayable, or an RPG, it's an FPS with...
Well, hey, System Shock 2 is only 9.99 on Steam too, right? Too bad it hasn't aged well. Bioshock is an incredible game regardless, but if graphics aren't a problem for you, there's other games you should try for that price.

Anyway, my point is even though I could play countless freeware games and countless games under 5 dollars for fun, Bioshock is well worth the 20 dollars and is one of the greatest games of this console generation.

The Witcher was just a poorly optimized game, my old machine could run Bioshock flawlessly and would still stutter in places in The Witcher.

I only hesitate because I _think_ I may have seen Bioshock & Oblivion bundled together for $20 at Target (I may have been mis-remembering, though; it may have been more.) I will say without hesitation that Bioshock is one of the better games I've played in the last year, and one of the few that really "grabbed" me.

I'd say it's more of a shooter than an RPG. Some of the progressive aspects are RPG-like, as are some of the mission elements and so forth, but you see a lot more of those kind of "RPG-lite" details in FPS games now-a-days. There are moments when you have options other than "grab key, blow away opposition", and some of the encounters with characters are very striking, but the development of your own character is rather limited.

It's absolutely worth $20. If you were looking for something else on Steam, I'd say it depends on your tastes and what you already have. "Torchlight" is getting quite good word-of-mouth, if you like Diablo-like games. If you're looking for an RPG and don't mind something a little older, Knights of the Old Republic, the Fallout "Trilogy", and Arx Fatalis all have pretty strong followings.

Bioshock had moderately low replay-ability. If you're a perfectionist, sure, plenty of replay. If you're a normal gamer, then no, not a lot of replay. There are no achievements on the PC version and if you can find Bioshock for the same price on the 360/PS3 I would recommend that over the PC version. There is no SDK out for Bioshock, so don't expect any advanced modding on PC. Gameplay time can be between 10-20 hours depending on how good you are at FPS. A bit short, but there are so many good scenes it's still worth it.

All that said, it's still definitely worth $20 and if you've yet to play it I would pick it up. It's easily one of the better games of the generation.

1)Is there replayable? Will I want to play this more than one time through?
From my experience, no. I played through it once, and it was ok that one time, but after that I never wanted to touch it again.
2)Are there achievements for the PC version, know this, it can probably answer #1
Not sure. I had the 360 version
3)I keep seeing it under RPG? Is it really an RPG? From what I can remember from images and video from a while back, it looked more like an FPS style game or an Oblivion style game.
No. You buy weapon upgrades and stuff, but theres no skills or stats you upgrade.
4)How long is it?
I would say it'll take you about 10 hours if you explore and look around/get lost a lot, probably closer to 7 if you just run through it with intent to finish it.
5)Would you recommend me getting it for 20$? and if not, can you think of any other games I could get off of Steam for under 30$?
If replayability is any factor at all. Don't get it. It's primarily a story/atmosphere driven game, and the gameplay is very average. You will definitely not want to play it after you're done with it because the appeal will have long since passed. There's probably much better games to spend your money on. I don't know what you do and don't have already, but my two personal favorites on steam are TF2 and Gmod. There's a package with both of them for like, 17 dollars.
