Bioshock just takes the piss.

So, I just finished Bioshock for the first time and, for some reason, I got the ending in which I was the evil bastard. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking I harvested all the little sisters but no, I saved every single one of them after learning that they were actually little girls. The first sister I saw, I harvested because Atlas seemed like a nice enough guy. Tenenbaum seemed even nicer so I rescued them from then on.

It's ridiculous how my ending was dependant on the first sister and everything you do after that has no bearing whatsoever.

Have you had this happen to you in Bioshock? What are your opinions on this crap? And has something similar happened to you in any other game?

That's the "Middle" ending of the game (which you get if you harvest even one little sister). Tenenbaum says that in the evil ending as well, but quite a bit angrier. It's not really crap. It's just that Tenenbaum saw that you were capable of mercy, but didn't show it at all times in the game. I know, because I got that exact same ending.

I liked the game, though it did seem kind of broken after I upgraded the shotgun(I didn't use the chemical thrower, by the way). The story itself required a second run through before I could fully know what was going on.

I hated the game in general.
Shitty gunplay, abundance of fetch quests, a horrible escort mission and then a shitty bossfight followed by a shitter ending.
Both endings to the game suck hard.

I'm going to guess you thought the game was shit, correct?

They really hyped up that part of the game too much. I wouldn't have been so bothered if they hadn't made such a big deal out of it in the promos.

"Truly interactive storytelling" was one I heard.

Don't get me wrong though, I liked the game, I just hate it when they embellish elements of games and they turn out to be just gimmicks.

It had a good atmosphere and looked really cool. That's the only thing I liked about the game, really.

I think there was a tone difference in the two bad ending. Anger for the one if you harvested all Little Sisters, and disappointment if you only harvested one.

Though I may be wrong

I harvested 3 and saved the rest yet I still got the good ending.

Harvested the first 3, then saved the rest.

Saving them is much better. You don't as much Adam or whatever but Tennenbaum gives you random gifts.
