Bioware gives away free copies of Mass Effect 2 in order to help sell DA2!

"Reward its most loyal fans" is simply not true. Their most loyal fans had ME2 when it came out and have already completed DA2 twice. They rewarded those who bought it at launch with crumby in-game items. Now they're trying to keep sales momentum going and rewarding those who didn't buy it at launch.

I have to believe that it's EA doing this to BioWare. The alternative is too horrible to imagine.

What's worse, though? Creating threads to beat an already long dead horse, or to try and praise it for what people thought it did right?
Well, this is News. So its worth bringing up. Hell, some people might actually go buy it now they know about this deal. I would not recommend it...but...

Though, on the topic of dead horse beating, I'll happily kick this dead beast until Bioware show signs of going back to producing quality games.
Both Mass Effect 1,2 and DAO are in my Top 5 favorite games list, and as a customer, I want to encourage Bioware to head back in that direction.

Besides, I wouldn't know how to begin praising DA2. I really didn't think anything improved.
Well, maybe put Varric in future titles. I kinda liked him.
How about, one of the first big budget games to attempt realism (in the cinematic sense of the word)? One of the first Bioware games where you can consistently play an irreverent smartass? Or, that unlike it's predecessor, it doesn't outstay it's welcome, asking you to play (effectively) an entire 20 hour game IN the Deep Roads before letting you move on to play another ridiculously long game someplace equally annoying (like, say the fade)?
You say realism...have you not reached the end of the game yet? Get ready for Lightsabers and jedi force jumps....

Though, you did say in a cinematic sense. I dont see how it was though. Games have been doing that for years. DA2, if anything (and much like Origins to be fair) was very stiff and wooden. It's a Bioware trend they still haven't kicked out yet.

And you could play a smart ass in Origins. It just didn't need to label it with a big Purple face.

I wont argue the deep roads was a bit to long, but its better then the 5 minute diversion in DA2.

Dragon Age 2 is....well....the least said the better....*shudder*

There is a good reason its selling so poorly.
Got any sales numbers to back that up because, last I checked, it was selling better than Dragon Age: Origins did at launch.

I might care if the free copy of ME2 was for console. But meh, I'd be better off getting ME2 for 17$

Well, with any luck this heralds the imminent release of ME2 GOTY edition, so I can get all the DLC rolled in...

I love Dragon Age II. (More than ME2, for that matter.)

My brother likes both Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 2, but doesn't actually own a copy of either.

This sounds like an opportune moment...

The game isn't bad. Most people bashing are disappointed overzealous fanboys or people who have never played the game.Like previously stated grow up.The game is good it's just not the better than sex virtual reality you all expected.
"Stop complaining just because Bioware made a game that wasn't Dragon Age and called it Dragon Age. Why can't you just accept Bioware's cashcow sequel and be happy?"
Opinions like that are the same reason Metallica didn't evolve at all after St.Anger and made Death Magnetic. The analogy is very valid and if you say Death Magnetic is good well yeah naturally remaking most of their 80s/early 90s songs with crappy fairly emo lyrics will merit good results.

If Bioware remakes DA:O with a few upgrades you'll like it right?

Better than giving free stuff?

I seriously don't understand the problem here. Yeah, saying that they're doing this to reward "their most loyal fans" is pretty stupid. But it's not like they're actually doing anything harmful, are they? Why is this such a huge fucking deal?

Are we still talking about this? I mean, Dragon Age 2 is like soooooo 3 weeks ago.

I wouldn't turn down a free game though, even if I already have it; My dog could always use a new chew toy.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed this, but the site listed at the end of the video doesn't work. And a quick Google search for the offer only turns up a bioware forum post about the video that they also talk about it but also question its validity.

I'm thinking hoax for this video

Valid or hoax, I got sceptical when Bioware/EA started throwing additional DLC stuff at me. It's OK when you preorder a game to add specific things but the stream of additional reward content just doesn't stop.

And now this? Wow, how the mighty have fallen. I only remember one other occasion on which you got a second game when purchasing another - and that bonus game was 'Too Human'. It says something when your extra game is the better of the two.

I don't honestly understand the point of this thread...
I viewed DA 1 and 2 as a breath of fresh air but didn't enjoy ME 1 or 2. . . and I've always loved biowares storytelling epic.

Now the idea of paying full price for ME1 or 2 has always been something I shy from.
But getting it free with DA2 "for example when I buy my brother a copy" means I might actually care to play through this... expanded KOTOR butchery...

/not insulting KOTOR or ME2, just saying it felt... familiar yet boring to me for some reason. Maybe I needed to spend more than 3 hours on it.

You must be another version of me from a parallel dimension , that's the exact same way me and my brother feel about DA2. Man, this would've been good if I didn't already owned both games...

Personally, I can't wait for Dragon Effect 2. Hawke, Warden and both genders of Shepard team up to take on Dragons fused with Geth?

OT: I've never played DA2. If I had a decent gaming rig, I'd get this to try it out. I liked ME2 on 360, so I know at least I'm going to get some sort of good game! :)

I'm having trouble thinking of any other group besides gamers that could honestly complain about getting something for free. I mean really guys?
Gamers really are the only ones to complain about this. Over the years, gamers have seemed to started to complain about more and more then actually gaming.
