I am guessing and hoping that when players hit the level cap new areas of the story will open up and we can continue questing and advancing the story of The Old Republic. I hope there is a plot point in TOR that allows us to search for what Revan was searching for.
Wait, so they would just keep developing content as people play, so that someone playing at a reasonable rate always has new content? (By which I mean like, once a month, something significant comes out, not like, streaming content of course, lol)

That would take so much work to do it would be unbelievable, but if they kept a dedicated development team on it all the time it could work, that would blow WoW out of the water.

Is the plan for end game to announce a release date??

Its been 4 years, and we have 2 CGI's and some concept art. (And alot of "yay sith" to wade through.)

Early 2011 is close enough for me, do you need a set day?

I reckon once you hit the level cap your character gets deleted, and you have to start again

Id like one, but Ill settle for making snide remarks.

On an afternote, if anyone is planning to take my heathenistic, un-charitable comment about TOR and using it to flame me, for daring to make demands of the company that is single handedly going to SAVE OUR WORLD with their upcoming MMO, please dont bother. I am looking forward to playing TOR just as much as everyone else over the age of five, but after following with rabid intensity for this many years, my enthusiasm is sapped. Danpascooch, and indeed, everyone else, is entitled to their opinions/enthusiasm... and so am I. Im sure it will come back when I have a shiny box in my hand.

(Assuming I havent succumbed to arthritis/senility by that time... ;-) )

If you get sent on a mission to find either:

The Yuuzhan Vong

OR

Revan

Then I fucking called it.

Nah, sounds like a good idea in principle though. Giving a player some sort of ultimate goal that they can only achieve once they've reached that highest level is a really good idea IMO. It gives people a reason to get to the highest level, first and foremost, and it also provides the really hardcore players with the bragging rights of 'I did the final ultra-hard quest of TOR and all I got was this lousy Robe'.

They have said at E3 that The Old Republic is looking at a Spring 2011 Launch. Heck, Half-Life 2: Episode 3 has been in development for about 3 years and there was nothing about it shown at E3, least TOR has a projected launch date. Hopefully, HL2: Episode 3 comes out next year too.

This game was already dead to me when they said they "balanced" Jedi. Jedi don't balance; Jedi are demigods!

I understood what you meant. In my opinion I think it might be something like adding new story quests every month or two but break it down into parts so that it keeps the player wanting more and when they do finish that story quest more plot lines open up from there.

How do you end a game that never really ends?

The Kingdom of Loathing is a classic example of constantly changing content with near infinite replayability. There's no level cap because the ultimate baddies level up with you. When your game "ends", you reincarnate and start all over again as a newbie with new ways to play and new limits you can impose for additional goodies.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Bioware take a page from that and recycle players through the story with new characters and new tweaks along the way. I wonder how the concept of reincarnation would play in a universe soaked in Force.

If it was free to play I would join, otherwise I will also sit in a corner and wait for KOTOR 3. I belive I have already made my choice on which group I will serve.
Peace is a lie; there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

4 years? So now rumors and prepping the terrain count as 'official announcements' all of a sudden, eh?

Wow. They sure have made a lot of promises for this game. I really hope they can deliver, or Bioware's going to look like a bunch of assholes.

am I the only one not concerned about the endgame of this? I'm going to be playing it for the stories and then quit. Endgame would have to be pretty fucking magnificent to get me to keep forking out the sub just to play it.

Can't say I'm putting a lot of stock in this until I hear more about what their plan is. Every MMO claims to have some magic way to deal with late/endgame MMO boredom before their game gets to that point.. and then ends up sticking players on a grind/wait/grind treadmill that players always burn through before the devs can come up with more.

Plus, Bioware's lack of previous MMO experience leads me to doubt them. Of course, it's very possible that their lack of experience will be a good thing as it may give them a different perspective on the problem. What they've done with extending the lives of their single player ventures, however, isn't exactly inspiring.
