I find myself partial towards Jade Empire for some reason. Maybe it was because it was the game I got with my Xbox (Original). I can look past all it's flaws because I just enjoy playing it so much. I just bought Mass Effect (yes, only just) and I'm enjoying it a lot. BioWare seem to make very enjoyable games in my eyes.
What's your opinion on BioWare games? I was thinking of Jade Empire specifically, but if you haven't played it don't hesitate to voice your opinion of other BioWare games.

EDIT: Typed 'impartial' when I meant 'partial'.

Jade Empire was bought late for me, still help up pretty well just let itself down with teases like the mention of other areas in the Jade Empire that you never actually go to, sequel-fishing at its most basic it would appear.

Mass Effect is more my cup o' tea, since I'm more of a cyberpunk than steampunk kind of guy. Also they were able to do more with ME than JE because of greater console capabilities.

I do indeed enjoy Jade Empire. BioWare has been making some very good, and very story driven rpg games. This mix so far has worked out really well but I feel that they are walking a knife edge between good story heavy rpg and a interactive heavy movie. If they keep going move toward that game side as they have so far I will love them for it otherwise I can hope that they learn from their mistakes.

Well I like KOTOR and I have an obsession with getting they're version of Baldur's Gate so I guess I really like them but other than KOTOR I have not played any of they're other games.

Now that you mention that I agree completely. Still very enjoyable games, though.

Jade Empire was my first Collector's Edition buy (because the Collector's Edition was only $30 at a local store when my mother bought it for me).
Great game. But I think it's widely accepted that overall BioWare is a great developer.

And despite being predictable story-wise, they're one of the best storytellers in video games.

Bioware is one of those rare companies that make games that I will always want to play. The first Bioware game that I played, or think I played, was the original Knights of the old republic. It, like many of Biowares games, was just an excellent and epic story and on occasion I still install it and play the heck out of it. I do the same with Jade empire, Mass effect, and Dragon age.

I will even go so far as to say I have yet to play a Bioware game that I thought was just medicore

I would love to see them do something with the cyberpunk and post apocolyptic genres but that may be a pipe dream

As far as jade empire goes. I really enjoyed the game, it was the first (only?) martial arts drama RPG I had played and Ive yet to play anything like it since.

Loved the combat in Jade Empire. I can't say much for the story because I didn't really give it the attention it deserves (I'll replay it some day though). I played the game sporadically over a year, but fighting was actually fun, especially with the many different styles. Leaping Tiger was my main style, but I was pretty high in Jade Golem, Longsword, Spirit Thief, and Paralyzing Palms

I have long held the position that BioWare is the perfect developer to bring back Shadowrun as it was in the SNES game. I want to start a petition for this...

Well they have done it so far, so lets all hope it means they get it. That or we are good till they run out of whatever miracle drug they have been injecting into their developers, that will be a sad day.

I wholeheartedly agree, if they could get the Shadowrun liscence and be able to take their time I think they could make a game that could surpass the SNES shadowrun. Also on a more selfish note, I would love to see them do something with the Rifts lisence. Lets face it the P&P RPGs mechanics are a mess but the setting is pretty awesome, they could make an excellent game out of just one aspect of the setting

I can think of many other game developers who could do with a little of that drug. Bethesda comes to mind.

Um, Mass Effect did have a sequel. How could you not know that? Unless of course, you're being sarcastic.

jade empire is great, but it might be one of the lowest ranked games from bioware imo

maybe its just the style they chose for the game, but the combat got a little dry (i know, its odd i would say it about this game above all their other ones) and the story didn't have the same re playability that i get with all their other games.

still, first time through, it was one hell of a ride.

I really didn't care for Jade Empire. Just because of the theme or story or setting or whatever you want to call it. The whole medievil martial arts thing just turned me off. I never really invested enough time into it to make any more judgements than that. I know silly reason to dislike a game but I couldn't get past it.

Loved all the rest of their games I played.

Dragon Age is medieval. Jade Empire was... well, Chinese.
