BioWare Trims Mass Effect 3 Squad to Focus on Deeper Relationships

As for non-team members, I figure Legion is probably gonna go the same way as Wrex. So that drops six from the roster.

Wait, how could they change much? From what I've seen and read, ME3 will take place right after Arrival. Not sure that so much characters can change in such a short time. Although its probably for the best, if we can avoid the "callibration" thing where you talk to a teammate 3 times, and after that they don't have anything good to say.

Or if you talk to Jack, most of the time you'll end up with her telling you to fuck off every time.

I like the sound of this, Bioware. Always thought the squad structure in ME1 was a bit limited and ME2 had pointless characters (Gameplay wise).

But If Tali isn't a squad member, you will evoke the force of a million angry fanboys.

Tali was confirmed as a squad member in either the June 2011 issue of PC Gamer or the June 2011 issue of PS3 Magazine UK.

Sounds awesome. One of the reasons I love BW's stuff are the interactions with companions. So I'm all for expanding on this feature.

People I'd rather see stay: Thane(although I'll understand if he's out/dead due to his illness), Liara
People who had FUCKING BETTER BE IN THE GAME: Tali, Legion, Garrus. And Joker, of course.

Either way, I hope that some of the ME2 members come back as well. Samara doesn't need to, and Jacob can go rot.

As long as I get to keep Legion, I couldn't be happier.
I actually liked all of them. Ok I could live without the humans, namely Miranda and Jacob, but Mordin, Tali, Legion, Garrus, Jack and Joker are my favorite crewmates! They should also keep EDI (though her interactions with Joker aren't so fun when they don't hate each other).

Zaeed and Kasumi are DLC companions, so I don't know if they will keep them. As for Thane, he could be dead by the time ME3 comes out. Finally, Samara/ Morinth is the only Asari and I am NOT saving the galaxy without an Asari on my crew!

Strangely this actually sounds a good thing; I always felt ME2 had way too many companions. So long as they keep up with their promise of deeper relationships, then I'm happy.

OT: Not a bad thing, although more than Mass Effect still I hope. 8 or 9 would probably be the sweet spot.

As much as I loved the crew in ME2... they just didn't get to do too much. I always end up getting Samara last and by then I don't really need her much, y'know? Just gimme Garrus and some Krogan and I'll be alright.

I couldn't care less about what they do to the game.
As long as I get to:
1) have fun
2) kick reaper ass
3) cure the genophage
4) watch the Rachni ships rescuing me with the power of awesome
and 5) make peace between geth and quarians....and if that isn't possible I will aid my robotic brethren in the extermination. ALL HAIL THE A.I. OVERLORDS (reapers are still dicks though)

Yeah, no arguments here. I found the different characters interesting and enjoyed talking to them, but it felt daft leaving the Psycho Biotic on the ship all the time and never using her in combat.
Same with Thane, Jacob, Miranda and Grunt. Trimming a few is a good idea I think.

Might also let them focus the good writing staff elsewhere besides all the characters as well.

Redesigns should be nothing to worry about, but after they turned Ashley into a hooker at the Marketing teams behest...not sure I trust them.

No mention of the 50 foot Cerberus Mech in the article though? For shame.

As long as Wrex, Liara and Mordin are back, with significant parts, i'll be happy.
Im guessing Tali and Garrus will be back aswell as all the fanboy/girls would possibly kill themselves if they werent.
And i'll be interested to see who's side Miranda is on aswell.
Also none squad members i hope to see back: Kelly, Joker and EDI
