Proper pies, with meat and gravy. Not those sweet American monstrosities.
Yeah, as a nipper I always wondered what it was with Americans and Apple Pie as I could never understand why you'd put apples and gravy together.

How about I start a thread about pizza.
Hmm . . . I'm not Italian though . . . that might be a problem.
Who cares? If it's anything like the last pizza thread I saw (on another forum), it'll just end up as a huge NYC V Chicago shitfight. Win-win in my book.

The Pizza Wars.

That's a film I'd pay not to see.

All hail the Great British Food God for gracing use with yet another loveable, tasty delicacy.

I tell you I can't go a single day without a cuppa and a good biscuit to dunk in it, my favourites would have to be either a nice, classic chocolate digestive or a Fox's Viennese.

In other news I love these threads, they make me giggle and let me revel in my love of Great British Food.

Oh and, PIES NEXT! I WANT ONE ABOUT PIES!!!!!

For me nothing will ever top the Chocolate Hobnob. Sadly, I can't keep them in the house as I wil eat a pack in about an hour.

Also, whats everyones view on the closest the US have ever come to making a real biscuit:

I remember a few years ago there was a massive add push to try and get Brits to accept them, but judging from how it went on for a month and never heard anything again, I guess it failed. I do remember think that surely only an idiot would try and push the pescription dope that is Oreos on a market already flooded with the grade A heroin that is the UK biscuit market, but then I remembered they're American.

I now live in Canada, where there are neither Hobnobs nor Jammy Dodgers. I fear suicide may be the only option left to me.

Stay strong kinsman.

I'll eat your share.

It's the right thing to do.

I envy you. Here the closest thing we can get to biscuits is Oreoes and the occasional stale pack of Digestives. Its just not the same.

Something I just though of, what if the americans are also biscuit supporters... but they are speaking american as opposed to english. A language in which the word for biscuit is cookie and the word for delicious baked bun is biscuit. What if the western hate for biscuits is actually a linguistic barrier and not a cultural divide?

You forgot these delicious delights:

Oatmeal biscuits drissled in chocolate is especially lovely. Mm. Never forget shortbread, either.

Dark chocolate digestives... oh God, how I'm not morbidly obese is beyond me.

And FYI; cookies are a type of biscuit. How very dare they take the name for themselves.

Ohh England. I'm so glad to of been descended of your great nation, and of your sister and brother. "Scotland and Ireland" respectively. The mix of the three has made Canada the greatest nation of humor.

But I hate to be the rebellious son to say I don't eat nor drink tea, nor care for it, and I and the country apologizes for our consumption of the cookie. But we do love them so.

Perhaps we can mutually tolerate each other on the issue.

Tasteful thread as always my good sir Daystar.

I am still not entirely sure about the major differences between biscuits and cookies.
At first I thought it was simply that biscuits had no "extra" parts of chocolate or inner filling, however after looking at the pictures, I was mistaken. Anyone care to help a poor Swedish guy out?

I also found my new favourite store, http://www.englishshop.se/ ! *happy*

Apple pie doesn't have gravy in it...It's a dessert. So, there isn't supposed to be meat or gravy in it. At least here it isn't.

Even the British settled colonies are getting in on the fun! No Australian can resist the delicious charms of a Yo-yo biscuit and a mug of tea! Not enjoying these staples of our traditional diet is like not saying g'day to your mate.
