Ponies. Love them or hate them you have to admit that MLP has gathered one of the weirdest followings...ever. Here is a show drenched in soft pretty colors with protagonists sporting names like "Fluttershy" and "Twilight sparkle" going on adventures to discover the magic of friendship. This show just screams "FOR FEMALES 8 AND YOUNGER!". So how in God's name has this show attracted the polar opposite of its core demographic, namely internet lurking males in the 16-24 range? That's like digging in Texas for oil and finding the bones of the russian royal family.

The only explanation I can think of is that our dimension has come into brief contact with the bizarro universe and theres been some cross-over. There it makes perfect and obvious sense for rowdy young men to talk about ponies, friendship, and magic. Got me to thinking however, what would be some of the other crazy show/demographic combinations from the bizarro universe?

Here's mine. "WWE; Rise of the Luchador is a popular wrestling gamet currently being televised. It is enjoyed chiefly by high society women who enjoy the catty drama and wholesale violence of the sordid affair. The show is often watched and discussed over afternoon tea; In more heated sessions, scones are known to go flying."

Your turn.

Probably the PS3 v Xbox one, you do realize that 95% of the time they will play the same games, do the same things and generally copy each other?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I'm gonna go with christianity having the weirdest fandoms around, I mean you have all these cults with their odd slash fanfic versions of the bible, then they fight with each other over whose fanfic is best, they have dedicated trolls that troll the funerals of competing fandom, parents and grand parents go to great lengths to make sure that their children and grandchildren become part of the fandom.

Funny, thats exactly how I feel about the abortion issue. I suppose you'd be called a misologue, a person who hates the argument itself.

I'd like to second the Christianity one.
Otherwise: the development of vampires into something intriguing for fairly sexual reasons, instead of being a something to be feared for its ability to steal your willpower, your sense, and your soul.
My only guess is that "steal your willpower" part may well have begun the sexual twist. And, of course, biting the neck has always been fairly intimate an action, so it isn't too surprising that it went from being considered a negative thing (depriving you of your personal space) to a good one.

I don't understand the "Have to know" fans. You know those people who always want to understand why other people could be a fan of anything that they themselves don't like.

Fuck my curiosity...I Just had to watch that. I now need massive quantities of both brain bleach and booze. I need to erase that from my memory. Holy Christmas christ that was terrifying. Weren't there two more videos like that in that thread? *shudders*

OT: I would wonder why some of the CoD fans have become so hardcore (yes I know that almost all of them aren't this crazy/stupid) but threatening to blow up a building and shooting people? Come on its just a game...

The Homestuck fandom isn't really surprising in its makeup (teen/early-twenties kids with unbridled internet access, shocking) as much as its unbelievable speed in reacting to updates. I don't even know an anime fandom that produces fanart at the rate this thing does. D:

Speaking from experience, anime has some of the weirdest fans in existence.

I'll let Mr. Blum and Mr. Mignogna explain:

Eh. I try not to judge anyone because I understand some of the things that I do are weird. I've for instance known many meatheads who can't stand "animoo" simply for being something they are unfamilair with. They will then insist that everyone who watches it is a weirdo and a dork then... they turn right around and commence their fantasy football leagues. Oh it is to laugh.

Guys like these infact:

These are men who for some reason are compelled to produce little media productions for the internet, every week. That's weird. Like "I have a huge train set in my basement" weird or "I maintain a battle field for strategy miniatures." weird.

But you know what? Everyone has eccentricities, things about them that are a little weird. The most closed minded thing you can do it to imagine that you are in fact, normal.
