What is there really to discuss they are up in the sky no where near us destroy anything near them and the idea of blackholes made an awesome Muse song....so what.

Black holes, AKA we're all going to fucking die.

I'm not sure how I want to die, but it sure as hell isn't by getting sucked into a giant multi-dimensional hole in space I can't even see let alone stab.

Uhh really we don't know enough about black holes to really make a judgement on one. It's just an area of highly concentrated gravity in a one dimensional point in space. I think it would be cool to go ghost cam and go inside of one.

To be honest, after I grow up, and do the stuff I want to, I want the world to be sucked into a blackhole, becasue as far as I am aware, a black hole could take you anywhere, if the whole earth goes through a black hole, if we have any luck, we could land somewhere where we could still sustain life, and possibly be closer to any other planets, that may function as another home.

On a more serious note, I love them they interest the crap out of me because we know so much about them but so little at the same time.

In general relativity, a black hole is a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing, including light, can escape its pull. The black hole has a one-way surface, called an event horizon, into which objects can fall, but out of which nothing can come. It is called "black" because it absorbs all the light that hits it, reflecting nothing, just like a perfect blackbody in thermodynamics. Quantum analysis of black holes shows them to possess a temperature and Hawking radiation.

Now, that's just one paragraph upon the books and books and more books of info we have on these bad boys, but the question still remains what happens if say YOU went into a black hole? Instant death? A new world? A new dimension? What do you think would happen?

eh I don't know much about them but I seriously doubt that they are much of a threat anyways we'll all die due to something else. However if a black hole big enough to devour our little planet did happen to pass through I would see it as I preferabe end, it's not like we would see it coming.

reported. put more than one word in your opening statement. I don't know what to discuss here yet but i'll take a guess...

Event Horizon was an awesome film

A black hole is what can ouccur when a star "dies". first it (the star) will become a red giant, in other words, it will get bigger, then it will expolde and one of three things will be left behind. A white Dawf star, a black dawf star or a black hole. A black hole is a sheer mass of gravity that sucks literally everything in, nothing can escape, not even light, hence the name black hole. If a black hole entered our solar system there would be nothing we can do, unlike meteors and asteriods which we do stand a chance against. And just like the Muse song there are such things as Supermassive black holes, i dont know how they form but i think its when two black holes meet but i dont reall know.
as for what happens when you get sucked in one is quite simple, your body will be stretched like string and you'll be dead before you go past the Event Horizon.

Can you be 100% sure that Death is the only possibility? While logic would say Yes that's what SHOULD happen, no one has ever actually been in one so...who's to say that is in fact what would happen?

If you went into a black hole you would pass through it faster then the speed of light, and your entire body would be pulled apart so that when you did pass through it you wou go through atom by atom in single file. Pretty neat huh?

Even if I did go riding in a black hole and, lets say, it made me ubersmall or whatnot, how would I report my findings?

I think that's a worm hole you're thinking of. As far as I know, a black hole is a super high concentration of gravity that sucks everything into something the size of a tenis ball.

Still, fraking 'ell, the sun is an ever exploding ball of gas, making such gravity that balls of space dust clump and become planets. That's damn cool enough without it exploding and sucking itself and everything around it in.
