i dont know if anyone is on the same boat as me and its a boat that seems to be firmly anchored

i had the same problem with the transition from COD4 to MW2. ive been playing alot of COD4 and BC2 prior to buying blackops and the learning curve was drastic its taken me to approximatly level 18 to get into a good rythm and play style that suits me. usually i prefer a sneaky silenced type class so i can move away from my team mates and go solo behind enemy lines and flank them this works very well on BC2 (with a VSS on a recon class) and i works in COD4 but the arrangement of the maps and the spawn system really hinders this playstyle in black ops.

fortunatly ive developed a new slightly more cheap style of play, i have a famas with extended mags and a suppressor (good for prolonged firefights) combine the extended mags with scavanger and you never run out of ammo. also having a tomahawk and ballistic knife for any close combat. i also use that camera spike i set it up at one entrance so i know if someone is sneaking up on me while i comfortably defend the other objective

has anyone else had this problem has thier been a learning curve in blackops and have you had to adapt your play style from different games

edit: its not so much a learning curve as it is a transition

Funny you should mention having problems with a "stealth" class.

In COD4 I ran a stealthy lone gunman style as you described, in MW2 I found this class impossible to run at all, but in Black Ops, I'm having a lot of success with it again.

Only thing to know about the spawn system is that it flips a LOT sooner than it used, to prevent excessive spawn trapping.

No.

The learning curve is "point-shoot-win-repeat."
Every game boils down to this eventually, 'tactics'and 'plans' are just 'variations' of this basic approach.

'No battle plan survives contact with the enemy'.

Ill give you a crash course: Aim, hold shoot button, one of you will die.

In all seriousness, its fairly short.

yeah i had the same problem with MW2 stealth class was impossible, i can see how it would be possible in blackops but with the ghost perk being so expensive and having a bigger trade off ive had to use scavanger till i can afford ghost and im starting to like it.

i agree, the spawns do switch much faster so you cant really get behind the front line like COD4 or BC2

Isn't Ghost unlocked by default? Could have sworn it was, maybe it was just the first one I purchased.

Once you rank up a whole bunch, you'll find yourself swimming in COD cash, do contracts as well, they are generally easy to do and grant extra moneys

Which is why good improvisation and fast thinking is key to any battle =p.

I haven't actually tried Black Ops, but it's safe to assume it's VERY similar to the previous CoDs game-play (especially judging by the in-game vids I've seen) so I will not be picking it up. I just hope Battlefield 3 will be the FPS I need to get me enjoying the new ones again...

Hasn't the Skorpion been the joke gun in pretty much every game it's ever appeared in?(Klobb anyone?)

Like the 32. Pistol in Fallout 3 I'm pretty certain it's there so a) enemies have a weapon even weaker than your wussiest pea-shooter and b) for really good players to have a self imposed challange by using an inferior gun.

i was amazing with it in COD4, but i was found using my pistol/tomahawk in blackops until i could get enough points for a new gun

im sure it depends what default class you use when you level up that denotes your starting perks

Sorry for the double post.

Imrpovisation is only good so long as you live long enough to put it into action (many a cunning plan has been held back by an unfortunate case of a shotgun blast to the gonads).

I actually heartily reccomend Black Ops just for Combat training alone, playing against bots has really sold me on this game (I tried it at a friend's place), the campaign is...alright I guess and Zombies is Zombies (what can I say?). Combat training was immense fun though and I can't wait to play it again.

My 2 cents.

Learn the maps and figure out routes which net you the most profit.

When it comes to pub games, it's going to be easy as hell to get kills. Unless you're playing anything clan related, tactics and planning will rarely work.

I'm actually having far more luck with Black Ops than I did with MW2, it's much kinder to rushers like me.

Also the "first to start shooting wins" principle applies.
Much less so than in other COD games. It takes a lot more bullets to kill in BO and I've been able to turn on people many times before they finish me off.

There's a learning curve? The games stupidly easy, not that I'm complaining.
Easy how? Easy to get kills or to win games?

Because going up against a good team in Black Ops or any other COD game is far from easy.

Multi-player games are only as easy as the team you're against and there's always someone better than you.

I think the spawn system is pretty awful. I get spawned on by the enemy or spawned into lines of fire fairly frequently.

Also, does anyone really snipe at all? None of the maps seem to be any good for it.

At least learning sniping is actually an art now. On the considerably smaller maps if you can actually find a decent overwatch spot to lay down and not be spawned on top of, you deserve them sniping medals.

Its why I if I want to use the sniper rifles I stick on an ACOG scope rather than proper scopes. You might as well use them as battle rifles.
