Assassination Classroom: I've heard of this, but I've been unsure if I should check it out. Mind telling me a little more? Why should I read this? Pitch it to me. Because the premise certainly SOUNDS interesting.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma: Hmm...this, aside from Hero Academia, is the one that interested me the most. Mostly, thanks to shows like Toriko, or some anime I watched a while ago called "Fighting Foodons". Is this series similar, and if not, what does it do differently?
For AssClass (lol), it's main story is clearly written on its sleeve. The Teacher is a "foreign Lifeform" who looks like a yellow humanoid thing with tentacles for hands and feet. He's nigh impossible to kill able to move at mach speeds and has super regeneration. His only demand is to teach a class filled with the rejects of this one school for 1 year and besides teaching them how to kill them, he also tries to make them the top students of the school. Apparently the Government has put a bounty of 10 billion Yen to whoever can kill him. The twist to that is, this teacher also provided the one material that can slow his regeneration and kill him.
Besides the School related story, occasionally Professional Assassins will also try to get the bounty, this usually will involve the whole class and this is usually the parts that have a more serious tone, because these Pros won't hesitate to use and kill the students.

For Souma, yeah, what user Syaoran said, it's basically Iron Chef. But it really aims for a realistic cooking story (besides the reactions lol). It details real cooking techniques and the food looks real enough to make. Also the art is very beautiful, the food will always looks enticing. It's rare we get a real "cooking story". While many others tries to combine it with other genres (Toriko with shonen fighting, Yakitate Japan with gag Comedy turns into full fantasy comedy later on lol).
The closest thing resembling with Souma was Cooking Master Boy in terms of the cooking skills/techniques/presentation involved, but not as dark as the story of Cooking master boy.
Assassin Class: Sweet. I'll go check it out then. "If anybody is going to kill Sensei, it's going to be us!"

Souma: ...Dang it. Ah, well. I can certainly appreciate that. Wait, Syaoran? Like Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles? Well done. I REALLY should get back to reading that. After "Flame Of Recca", of course.

I gave up on bleach shortly after Aizen was defeated, from the sound of things I made a good decision

I do have one question, did unohana ever get a big fight, if I recall correctly she was supposed to be the most dangerous fighter in the series when she decided to fight instead of heal
that part was SOOOOOOOO unbelivably bad.

basicly, she fought kenpachi to awake his power he unconciously sealed to have fun fighting and not just mop the floor with everyone.
we see a bit of a battle between them where (if i remember correctly) she heals him from time to time, but basicly he gets stronger and stronger. but we leave the fight before something mindbogingly awesome could happen (like kenpachis bankai for example) just to see him some time later fight with a quincy that can just imagine the reality.
in the fight he just powers through without anything special (aside from his durability), almost dies but kills the enemy. the end.

so no, if nothing else happens in that direction, we didnt see the real strength of the two, or rather, we kinda saw them and it was just a bit slashing with the sword, no crazy/cool bankai.

but yeah, the series is realy bad. i thought naruto wasnt THAT bad (until that godess whatshername poped up) but bleach? damn that is a bad manga. but like some said, its like a trainwreck i cant stop watching. ive read sooooo much of it (started reading when hueco mundo started) that i just want to read how it ends. bleach is the perfect example of bad powercreep.

one piece seems to handle that much better (<3 one piece). the characters do get stronger and stronger, but more in a fighting way, not a "i can destroy the world"way. the most power shown until now was during the wararc when it destroyed marine headquaters (only partly). that power lies with the main antagonist (blackbeard) so they shouldnt be that much stronger then that by the end. and i fimly belive that the strawhats didt get any stronger since the timeskip and that their enemys since then have been realy weak compared to them. desrosa seems to be the first challange to their skills.

Meh. I started watching Bleach, and I think that I got past the first few episodes before it started to irritate me. The character designs look silly (see Ulquiorra[footnote]I never actually got that far to "meet" him. He was pointed out by my friend and I just thought that he looked silly. I mean, what is that meant to be on his head?[/footnote]) and watching people running around in kimonos, sandals, and wielding overly large swords starts to get obnoxious. I probably would have dragged my way through it if it wasn't over 350 episodes long, and even with a shortened list given by a helpful user on this site that knocked it down to just over 200, it is still a commitment that I am not sure about taking.

That being said, I am kinda glad that I didn't decide to watch it. Seeing the reviews about the state of the manga here, im not sure if I am overly willing to give up X amount of hours of my life to watch an ultimately unfulfilling show.

I still feel like that the series should have ended after the fight with Aizen. Everything felt in place after that fight, no lose ends at all, everything made sense too. But no; we get the Quincy Arc and everything goes straight to hell with almost half of the cast dying and more shit being made up on the spot.

Bleach is honestly one of the most boring big shonen series out there right now. I stopped reading shortly after the Aizen fight, which felt like the right place to end the series even if that whole arc was so awful. But then I subscribed to Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha and, well, since Bleach is part of that lineup, it became a lot harder to ignore so I figured fuck it and started reading it again.

But once again it's just suffering from huge pacing problems. And every battle has to rely on characters being as stupid as possible:

"Here is my quirky gimmick and a detailed explanation of how my power works."

"Well, now I use that information to come with an obvious counter-measure to your ability and kill you."

Even the big battle with Yhwach and the bald guy, where bald guy had Yhwach dead to rights but decides to halve his power instead of just outright killing him in order to not ruin the genocidal maniac's reputation or whatever. And now he's going to die because of his dumbass battle plan.
