Okay, first of all I agree that yes bleach is full of fanservice from the beginning and that the female character need a better role in all this, but you should seriously proof read your comments, 'least you look like a damn 10 year old with all your typos and spelling errors. And really if you can get past all the fanservice then bleach is pretty decent, at least until the arranca arc, that's when I kinda had to call bullshit, kinda did the same with DBZ when SSJ3 was discovered.

Heh, the original Fullmetal Alchemist is probably around 50% filler.

Why? You ask,
During the production of the first series, the manga wasn't completed.
But unlike Bleach or Naruto, they decided not to do filler episodes and wait for the manga to catch up.
No, they went with Filler Episodes the whole way.

After the first encounter with Greed, the Anime takes a totally different route then the manga would.
The anime writers basicly said, we'll just finish this story our selves.

Later, when the manga WAS completed, they made Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
The series that is the same as the manga.

oh and it's also the greatest anime I've ever seen.
The fight with the big bad still brings shivers down my spine.

If you think the fanservice is bad than you going to gore your eyes out from checking out Hightshool of the Dead, Queen Blade or Ikki Tousen.

Bleach is a Shonen anime meaning the target audiences is for male teenager. Yes I agree a couple of the female casts are useless well mainly Orihime (the amount of times I hear her saying "Kurosaki Kun!" make my ears bleed) but she probably better than Sakura from Naruto (efore Shipudden). The useless female lead is a typical thing from Shonen .

I don't mind the eye candy in Bleach, I actually rather like it, but as soon as the author starts turning random characters into sultry women just because he's apparently tired of the way the look, then that's a freaking cop-out.

Once was bad enough with Yoruichi, but then he does it again with Nell who we then never hear from again after the fact.

They were badass, but the boobs...and the catsuit...and the creepy old man...it was all just too much for me D: For me, the show's only redeeming quality was Apachai.

Yeah, it was quite cliche and filled with fanservice, but I still enjoyed the show. Not Fumoffu funny, but funny nonetheless IMO.

Especially Apachai.

Fair point, but I don't think it's fair to call FMA filler just because it's different from the manga. There's about six episodes from the original series you can just skip over and be perfectly fine as far as the main story goes. That's my definition of filler. Now look at Bleach. Of the 200ish episodes that were out when I stopped watching it, I think I may have watched 60ish. If I myself wasn't looking up which episodes were filler and skipping them, I never would have known I was missing out on 70% of the show. To me, that's just offensive and it's why I don't watch hardly any anime to this day. Oh, and Brotherhood kicks substantial ass. I'd say it's my favorite, but I'm waiting for the rest of it to come to Netflix so I can finally finish it.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I stopped watching Bleach: the new characters (and some of the old ones) were just becoming boring and/or objects for Character X to defeat/save. In general Bleach is one of the most tragic train-wrecks of the anime world. It starts out being promising and does hold it's promise to a certain extent, but after that point IT JUST NEVER ENDS. It's also has an insane amount of filler, with the show sometimes barely getting in 10 episodes of actual plot before jumping into another season of pointlessness.

It is kinda annoying that the females, with the exception of Soifon and Yoruichi (naturally, the lesbian and the black chick) are almost universally second and third-rate fighters.

No love for Unohana? Considering that the likes of Rudobon (complete with a full compliment of exequias (sp)) and Aizen (backed up by Gin) all withdrew from potential fights with her and (from what I remember the filler/anime-only detail) that she apparently scares Koryaku and Ukitake - two of the most powerful captains in the whole Gotei 13 (and who barely batted an eyelid whenn they had to fight Commander Yammamoto) she's been subtly built as a frickin badass. And she has by far the least fan-servicy design.

Then again on the men's side you have losers like Hitsugaya (Captain Scrub) and Renji. They got a little better over time though.

And Uryuu and Chad. And Ichigo himself tends to get curb stomped. A lot.

Honestly, its a Shonen Jump anime, what did you really expect? Its targeted towards young male teenagers, of course the women will have lots of sex appeal.

When I first read this, I immediately thought of Yachiru... She's a girl who's not really treated as a sex object.

Though technically, we've never seen her in action. Which really annoys me. I mean, we even got a friggin' filler episode all about Yachiru and she still doesn't fight! Gah!!!

But she's the vice captain of Squad 11. She has to have some skills. Just imagine.

Ya, most anime I've seen treat women in a very similar way. The only exception I know, and my favorite anime of all time in large part because of it, is Fullmetal Alchemist. Sure, Lust has 58 double E knockers, but she's the embodiment of lust. It makes sense. Hawkeye and Winrey are actually characters though, and what's more they're fantastic at what they do and have reasonably sized chests! What more could you ask for?

*sigh* Though most of the stuff I watch contains women with realistically sized boobage, I have to agree that while they certainly exist... they are (unfortunately), exceptions to the general rule. Such as Aria... the warm and fuzzy series where the six main characters are all girls and they're certainly attractive by anime-standards, but excessive (even large) chests you will not find, thankfully.

Incidentally, I'm one of those rare weirdos who enjoyed both FMA & FMA:B.

Well I've thought Bleach turned to shit ever since Soul Society arc finished. I haven't really been keeping up to date with the anime or manga.

All I can really say is that most shōnen/shounen turn into typical power level bullshit where everyone who once had an important role in the story is cast aside in favor of the main character and three of his equally OP friends.

The characters who are cast aside are usually turned into comical relief, fan-service, shipping wars (romancelol) or filler-arcs.

I've seen fanservice even worse than them and they were bad enough... what has been seen, cannot be unseen. *shiver*

It's true, some anime/manga that's called "fan service" should just be considered outright porn.

Plus crazy cat lady (cause i can never spell her name) beats yammy, takes down ichigo, avoids the 6th squad captain, beats soifon and lasts awhile against aizen
Ok yeah shes a pure sex object that flirts with everyone around, but dammit shes more useful than most of the guys xD
Ok ill admit some of them r annoying at times, but it seems to be that they cant be bothered than their weak or whatnot.
