I taught myself blind typing when I worked at Cable and Wireless (now Virgin), I had so much typing to do but with no time limit, so I just made myself learn through trial and error. I do have a bugger of a time with this laptop keyboard as the hyphen and numbers are in a different place to a normal keyboard. Interestingly, I can't remember where any of the keys are, and if I think at all about what I am doing then I completely lose it and can't figure out where the next letter is - strange huh?
That was done blind, and I managed to hit the hyphen! Yay! Guess I'm finally getting used to this bloody thing! I've typed this section with a towel over my hands, which I guess is more of touch typing, if I paid any attention to the touch marks on the keys )looking now, they are the F and J keys).
I have been doing office and temping work for eleven years now, so that's probably why I can do it so well. I haven't found any other typists who can blind/touch type but can't remember where any of the keys are. I guess it's subconscious now.
