Try to keep in mind that Blizzard the StarCraft studio is not the same entity as the Activision-Blizzard legal department, and that when it comes to matters of business - especially big-dollar business like a popular Blizzard game franchise - the standard practice is lawyers first and ask questions later. Suggesting that Blizzard is somehow behaving badly in all this is way off the mark.
Basically this. It's often hard to ever put Activision and Blizzard in the same boat, in cases like this you just can't. Activision is the stiff in the suit and Blizzard tends to be the quirky genius everyone gets along with.

Who's still a bit off put by people making pornographic versions of his work. ;)

This is one of the many, many reasons that I love Blizzard. They actually care for their community.

Smells like more of that PR BS stuff that keeps getting everywhere.
Except that they openly promoted their fan made content and invited the lead of the mod team to come to the Blizzard campus and talk to Starcraft 2 designers?
Because that happens every time someone does a mod like this.

OT: Great to hear. I can't wait to see this, and play it if it gets released.
Yeah, this is better PR for his map then his Youtube videos.

Wow, good for him. I'm not into any Blizzard game, but it's still cool to see fans and developers work together.

Did Activision Blizzard invite the modders before or after the Cease and Desist letters?
There were no cease and desist letters.

I'm surprised nobody has put it together yet.

Blizz has a yet-unnamed MMO in the works.
Blizz takes interest in fan-made Starcraft MMO.
Blizz invites the dev over for tea.

The up-and-coming MMO is a Starcraft based one. I'll eat my shoe if it is not.
I hope you like the taste of leather. Blizzard has on numerous occasions that the up-and-coming MMO will not be Starcraft based or set in the Starcraft universe. The code name for the project is Titan, though, if you're curious.

I believe for one reason and one reason only that this has gone well; Blizzard is handling it, not activision. Activision Is Ham-handed and Very restrictive. Blizzard are good people.

Activision Threatened legal action and now blizzard is saying thet're okay with this. Activision suddenly has it's legal hands tied.

It's simple they wanted the video taken down, then Blizzard itself went in (not papa Activision) and they offered them a meeting and then a job. This is what happens when you leave Kotick out of meetings and ignore him. Now can we please fire his ass for being horrible with public relations and get someone not as evil. I hear Satan is looking for work.

The last rumor I heard was that it was to be a Shooting MMO, either first person or third person. This could be quite interesting, as I'm sure Blizzard would do a great job with it.

LIES!!

Blizzard doesn't like competition and has killed mods in the past.

Only thing is, there was so much publicity that came around that killing it would have generated more negative flak than they could deal with. So they allow the mod, not good enough. What could they do after removing the vids from Youtube.. Tell the dev he can come visit? GENIUS!!!!1!
Now you think they're the greatest company around. -.-

Publicity company almost as good as Apples.

This is my dream MMO. I am amazed at this guys talent and hardwork though. I can't wait to see it get published. I know I'll be playing. This news also tops my caked as I heard the Next Dawn of War is going to be an RTS MMO which just makes me feel great.

I'm definitely interested. Global Agenda had a lot of potential, but their balancing was a joke. I think Blizzard puts more commitment into it. I still think it's gonna flop though: no MMO will best WoW, not even a Blizzard MMO.

Maybe that's why they're aiming for a shooting one instead.
