Despite what Mr. Grumpypants here says, SC2 was one of the best games of 2010 so you really can't go wrong with it
If this were anyone but you, this would be the part where I say "Well, let's go through every aspect of this game point by point.".
That aside, SC2 being one of the best games of 2010 says something disturbing about either the gaming market, or its audiences and reviewers.
The only real legitimate knock I can think of against the game is that the dialogue is pretty cheesy and the story is mediocre, but I think that if you're playing a Blizzard game for the *story* you're doing something wrong in the first place. The campaign missions are some of the best missions I've ever seen in an RTS, the multiplayer is great, and it works as a spectator sport perhaps more easily than any game I've ever seen.
So yes, actually, I think it's perfectly fair to say that SC2 was one of the best games of 2010 completely on its own merits, ignoring the rest of the market.
That said, I think the new Battle.net service, while having some good ideas and doing certain things well, has a bucketload of problems. But those are problems with Battle.net, not SC2 the game.
