As... weird as this is, and as sure as I am that this is the thing the game developers always called 'the thing we'd never do', being able to roleplay as a zen monk panda is kind of hilarious.

Not grimdark enough. Mindless raaaaage!

In all seriousness, they're bringing back actual raid progression in the next expansion. You'll need to do Tier 14 to get into t15, you'll need 15 to get into 16, and so on. Much better than the current model where you skip straight to the most recent tier.
Not only that, but everyone I've spoken too who's played the Beta said the content was great; if not always tuned properly, and also they're finally updating the ancient class models for the Vanilla races. And there should be plenty of stuff to do at endlevel, finally. Tier 14 has 16bosses.

Eh, compared to the Burning Crusade, Lich King and Cataclysm cinematics this one seems kinda......lackluster.
And on top of this it doesn't give us a clue as to who will be 'the big bad' of the pack.

BC: Illidan
LK: The Litch King
Cata: Deathwing
MoP: ??????

Regardless, this won't bring my back. Due to my addictive personality I'd rather not have a game ruin my chances at uni.
The end boss of this expansion is gonna be Garrosh Hellscream. Although I imagine there'll be something more to it than just killing him because he's already been killed hundreds of times by Alliance players storming Orgimmar.

But does this mean that Thrall is gonna be Warchief again? I mean after all the good he did in Cataclysm, it'd be weird forming a raid group and then killing him.

Now they finally get it, and legions of children are bitching about "pandering to kids with Kung Fu Panda crap."
Wait, what?

Even if I ignore the panda bears and another lackluster plot (Arthus is dead - why are we even still here?) I'm somewhat drawn to the good ol' realm of Azeroth. But the community was just about shot last time I played, LFGuild combined with Guild Achievements simply added sheer numbers of people to larger guilds, raiding is puggable so no real reason to try hard there, and PVP is clearly on a back burner, where it has been since.... BC? I just can't come up with anything besides 'the world looks nice and I want to explore it'. And I can do that in other games, minus the trolls, and subscription fee. Plus there's a chance it'll brainwash me again and I'll play it for months on end without knowing why.

PS: They repeated the question as they are talking to the audience, it is also a proverb. A saying. You know "Don't lead horses to water" or "Let the morons die slowly" are all common sayings around the world today? Yea. Same thing.
Are you implying something here?

As much as I want to dislike it that cinematic was good. Blizzard are good at making cinematics.

No offense meant - no offense taken, then!

Well considering how badly they ruined their rep with me during Cata I have no intention of going back for this.

Can't wait to try out the new race in a few weeks after the release.

I just loved the expresions on the human's and orc's face as the human handed the orc his spear.

My basic thoughts on the subject are mixed, the odds of me returning to WoW for this are minimal as most of the things that kept me playing (like my old guild) are gone, and it's a chore to really go through all of that again to be where I want to be. Not to mention the entire thing seems rather stupid and anti-climactic.

Don't get me wrong, the Pandareans have been part of the game lore, and we have had furbolgs (bear men) running around for a quite a while. What's more people HAVE wanted an unarmed combat class for a while. The combination of these elements in this way just doesn't seem to work, and the Jack Black movie has just made things worse.

Timing is also a factor, see when people were asking for Pandareans and such it was years ago and there were reasons for it. The game since expanded, added other things, and kind of changed in tone and content.

Most importantly is that the people asking for Pandareans kind of wanted they tossed in as this occasional cool thing, with them just being added into the races or whatever. A lot of it had to do with wanting another decent Alliance race to counterbalance some of the abillities the horde races were giving... an Alliance opposite number to the Tauren or whatever.

Extending this into an entire expansion pack is a big part of that problem, looking at that trailer what exactly do we have going on in "Mists" other than watching Kung-Fu pandas beat the crap out of people? What's more the idea is to relocate the entire game into the world of the kung-fu Pandas, and presumably keep the focus on it for the next couple of years.

When WoW came up the whole idea of a three way Horde/Alliance/Undead battle going on tied into the RTS game universe was awesome. The Burning Crusade which had people go through The Black Gate to fight demons was awesome and fit the lore. Lich King was epic, and brought about a finale to the ongoing storyline. Watching Illidan scream "you are not ready" or Arthas raise Sindragosa to the wistful narration of his father's spirit was epic... Deathwing in Cataclysm while justified by the lore was kind of "meh" and just didn't stoke me as I felt little real connection to it, and it was kind of set up to justify the developers doing some renovations. With "Mists" what we've got is some cartoony garbage involving a pseudo-asian culture populated by bear men, and little in the way of any kind of similar narrative structure to motivate me as to why I should really care. I wanted to fight Illidan and Arthas, Deathwing was kind of "meh" and that's when I left, I personally do not feel any need to return to WoW to get my butt kicked by a kung-fu furbolg which pretty much seems to be their selling point.

If you want my honest opinion, I think a lot of Blizzard's user bleed off has come from people just not caring about the game. Once the central storyline/conflict with Arthas was resolved, everything else has largely been drawing it out... rather transparently so. As some people have said, the game kind of lost it's soul after WoTLK.

Here's the strange thing I think of when I see these cinematics. When I see a World of Warcraft or Starcraft Cinematic, I think to myself "Activision should just cut their losses and start making films. They're excellent at it."

And whenever I see one of those cinematics for The Old Republic, all I can think is "They spent how much on these vignettes when they could have been using it to polish their game?"

Looks interesting, I'll give it that.

On a side-note, I've noticed that the cinematic itself is rather reminiscent of the Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness box cover.

Still not going back to WoW.
My thoughts exactly, lol. I have to give Blizzard some credit. I really like this cinematic. If it was the first glimpse that I had of the expansion, I would play it again. BUT I've been keeping up with the expansion's development and even watched some playthroughs of the new zones. As nice as the environments and things are, it still felt like it devolved into a boring grindfest. And I'm very concerned about the level progression in the game. I'm assuming you still have to play through all the other expansions to get to the new expansion's end-game content. Would still be a pain in the butt to play through BC and Cata content.

Actually Cata's leveling content is really fun, by far the best part of the expansion in fact, in my opinion. BC has it's moments when it's good, it started off good, got a bit boring, and then the later zones were fun. It's Northrend that I can't stand. I played WoW for it's end game and I found Cata's end game really boring, so boring that it made me stop playing the game altogether, but if you're playing through the older expansions just to get to the newest then you don't need to bother with the end game until the latest expansion.

Great cinematic as is always the case with Blizzard, but I'm not going back to WoW. Got into the beta and did the Pandaren starting zone and some of the 85+ content, and its just the same thing all over again. Except with added Pokemon, and frankly, I got a GBA for that and it doesn't cost £8.99 a month.

So their big plan to revitalize WoW is to build a Kung-Fu Panda themed expansion? I'm amazed Dreamworks hasn't already given them a call about merchandising.

Also why can?t Blizzard just go make the Warcraft movie themselves ? I know they can?t write but I?d watch 2 hours of their cinematic?s .
Their cinematics are so good because each 2-4 minute clip takes over a year to produce. So... a 90-minute film would be what, 30-40 years in the making?
